14/16 HORSE VANGUARD CARB

so yesterday i had a 1995 cushman -jacobsen utility cart follow me home. powered by a 14 hp vangaurd,hour meter shows just a bit over 1200 hours. it came with front ag,s dump bed,and a r.o.p. system.at 300 dollars i couldnt let it pass by. it has a cvt trans with reverse. now,my problem is the po took the carb off to fix it and lost it. i read somewere that 14 and 16 vanguards are the same except smaller carb and exhaust restrictors. anyone have any info on this? i dont want to drop 200 on a new carb if possible. are there any aftermarket carbs,or has anyone used another type of carb?? thanks in advance

Being 2cyl you could probably rig up twin Mikuni carbs.

yeah, ive heard that too. talk to mr Doc Sprocket about it.. especially with them restrictors. you could find the original carb somewhere, or like doug said, you could rig up duals

parts are not cheap for the vanguards,i really dont think dual carbs is a option. one cylinder head is under the seat. i would like to get a bit more performance from it,but still be dependable. its going to be used to trail ride and play in the snow since it already has 23 inch ags

have any junkyards near you? pick-a-part? look around on ebay and CL. vannies came on generators alot. even if you find one blown up, you can pilfer parts off it. alot of the guys on here have junkyards near them. id post a wanted in the classifides section

I can get you a 14 canny carb. But Doug is right. Some sort of mikunis will clamp on with some radiator tubing or the like.

sadly there are no mower junkyards here,i found a used 16 horse carb on fleabay for 120 dollars. i have found a new 14 horse carb for 253 dollars...OUCH. already tried to see if a carb off a oppy fits,no luck.guess i,ll just keep on searching. i didnt want to wait too long as i want to try this thing out next time it snows. plans are ag,s all around,winch,off road lights(there already is a spot for them) and some other goodies for now.
