PostSubject: Opposed not charging   opposed - Opposed not charging Icon_minitimeSeptember 27th 2014, 5:10 pm

As you all know, i have my first opposed on my craftsman GT-18.
its a 1989 Briggs opposed twin, horizontal shaft. I put a new huskee battery, a new cable and solenoid in as well as a starter. it starts right up now, no problem.. BUT, what IS a problem, is that it does not charge the battery. The headlights come on, and the PTO works, and it ran just fine without a battery, so its making power, its just not getting to the battery, any ideas?

Keep in mind that it runs fine without a battery because the ignition system and the charging system are unrelated. Now- it would really help if we can identify which of several possible types of alternator stator you have. How many wires, what colour, and what is the shape and colour of the connector?
