| While Lowering my rear end yesterday, I've noticed that the speed lever is attached to the clutch/brake pedal shaft. What does it actually do? Tighten the clutch so it gets better grip? Anyways can I simply remove it? And what are the consequences? The setup is in the way of the tranny, and If I don't really need it I don't want to relocate it. | |

| The speed lever stops the CVT from moving so it stays "in gear". If you remove it the speed wont function right and it will be stuck in either 7th or N, I cant remember which. Head Forum Administrator ** Chat Moderator ** Facebook Page AdminATLTF Facebook Page ** Chatbox ** How To Upload Pictures

From what I have seen lately, it looks like it would sort of 'float' around 3rd gear. With as Richie pointed out, the actual speed being determined by the RPM of the engine. The clutch pedal could slow you down or speed you up, as well.

| the way his drove, it was good for speed, say if you want to dragrace, or just do straights, but it would suck in the corners, the damn thing would haul ass, ive actually thought about building a drag racer from a mtd gt rearend so i would have 2 "gears", but thats a project for later

| Ok, makes sense. Now if I was to change the pulley and put like a 3" pulley and remove that selector. it would pretty much always in the the same "gear" and the throttle would pretty much decide how fast I want it to go..
I have a MTD vari-drive something like that (#MTD 717-764). I could just change trannys, I Havent heard much good out of them. lol.
Too bad since the other day there was a peerless at the junkyard but it had a hole in the casing :/
