| I have a 10hp briggs motor on a 5kW generator. Is there a way to bolt a pulley to the flywheel side instead of the recoil start? I think I've seen older engines driven from the flywheel side. | |

| Thanks for the info. Ebay didn't show anything for briggs and looks like the price will be up there. I was hoping it would be an easy to find part for cheap. If it's $50-$100 I'll just use a different motor. | |

| Thought about it, but was concerned about balance. Though if it was a little off I imagine the belt and tensioner could make up for it. I keep forgetting that you can get away with things on mowers that you wouldn't be able to on larger, faster, or more sophisticated equipment. I might have a go at making one. | |

| even if it is unbalanced, it wouldnt be that hard to balance. just set it on mower blade balancer and put little beads of weld on the light spots until its somewhat balanced

| I don't think balance would be too much of a concern. But that thing better run perfectly straight and true, or chaos will ensue! Hey... That rhymes! | |

| Yeah, it seemed to be a machine part not a weld type part. I might give it a shot though and use electric start, and stand very far away, haha. | |

| The murray is in pieces, some scavenged for mowing grass, some waiting for cooler projects. The atlt idea was a means to an end. I picked up a atv for $300 and the tractor seemed redundant. It's funny, I use my atv more as a workhorse/tractor, than I did the atlt as a offroader. I do have my eye on a rear steer mower and if I can get it, a 4wd build is almost a requirement. | |
