| Some great ideas there for all of us. Sometimes sifting the chaff for pearls of wisdom is difficult... and sometimes it's easy. Thanks for makin it easy. | |

| Very cool, get a hold of a higher quality camera, and you will be golden! I record off my phone because thats all i have, but it shoots 720 or 480 when focused. so it does ok. | |

| Thanks. Actually, the camera is quite good, but my internet sucks. I been doing what I can to make file size manageable. So, quality suffers. | |

| A lot of farmers in south America run a VW flat 4 on 2 cyl, and use the other 2 as an air compressor to run pneumatic lifts and attachments. | |

| The thing about the air pump is... The compression stroke. Horribly inefficient, if one were to repurpose an engine as a compressor. I would thing that to do it right, one would need to reprofile the camshaft, and play with valve timing. | |

| The way they do that without major mods is they put a pipe with a check valve in the spark plug hole and remove the exhaust pushrod. They close off the intake runner (so they aren't getting gas in the compressed air) and drill intake holes in the head for air... usually a 1 inch hole with a push in breather. The preferred heads for this are the porche heads, the intake is easier to mod, but Ive seen it done with all types. If someone wants to do it, they'll engineer a way. | |

| Both solutions would work great. Even in a pinch, you could get good pressure from the exhaust if sealed up correctly. To be most efficient, I think I'd have the cam re-profiled AND use the check valve in the sparkplug hole with no exhaust valve pushrod. Compression on every stroke.... | |
