broken snowblower

hey guys. my buddy just got this snowblower for free, not running. its old, thats all i can say. to me, it sounds blown up from this vid. it sounds like there is zero compression. what do yall think?

my guess would be no compression

yeah sounds like something is ***** up it looks like it takes no effort to pull so that kinda makes me wonder if the valve springs are toast it isnt even making a put put sound like its pulling air and stuff

thats what i thought. and by the way the output pully keeps spinning for a bit after he pulls it, leads me to believe there isnt any compression

time for a new engine!

Could be a rod... looks like a Tec, have been known to throw rods.

diagnosis is a thrown rod. did a reudimentary compression test by removing the sparkplug and there was nothing there. so i pulled the head and pulled, the piston didnt move. i pushed it to dead bottom, and tried pulling and it locked up. so like i said, thrown rod. however, i DID find a peerless 3 speed gearbox which i will be removing in the spring and will be for sale. send me a PM if interested.
