~70s Massey ferguson 8 dilema

Hey guys I have a bit of a problem I have a massey 8 that I absolutely adore no engine but the tranny is good brake is iffy I already have wheels and tires picked out for it (gonna wide ag the front and dual ag the back) the only thing I am worried about is the tranny it is good for 8hp out of a tiny tehcumseh but I dont know if it could handle say a 10hp diesel or something. Id like to go diesel just for the fact that it has a heavy duty frame itd go really well with the style and its still a light tractor so I think itd sip fuel. Let me know what you guys think I could use the advice!   

Are you going to use the pulley that is sitting in the engine bay.  If should be able to handle about anything as long as you don't throw really high pulley swaps at it.

Was planning to keep it all close to original spec cept the differential thats getting locked not sure what that pulley/shaft thing used to do

Are there any markings on the tranny, or anything to give us an idea what model it is?

I just got it dug out of a snow bank fraid I cant tear it down or clean it any just yet to cold and the barn is in dire need of cleaning before I can get to taking it apart was hoping someone might know or have a manual laying around havent found much info though I know it is a 4 speed just 3f 1r

I've got a 66 massey 175, (60hp farm/field diesel), and that uses the same style paint and sheetmetal. It could be a mini to my big tractor.

lol Id sell it to yah but I think its gonna look pretty cool when I get done with her :)might just put my tax return into one of those 6hp china clones then work a bit of overtime and get some ag tires to dual the rear wide ags in the front and showroom paint it Gonna have to check your channel for pics of it or something kinda curious now :p

@doc Oh lol thought reverse counted guess those trannys I was looking at were actually 5 speeds not 6 8D

it seems to be made of cast iron :V
