| Cool kart! Looks like a close match, but not exact. They must give great steering control though huh... The guy who sold me mine said they were from a small quad. I haven't put them on yet because I think it will be a bigger project than expected. They're going to be taller for sure, so I'm going to want to modify my spindles shorter to level it out. Also I've got that bent spindle that will be corrected when I drop the front end, so yeah... waiting on a good time to start. | |

Glad to hear it, and you're welcome! That's one of the great things that I like about such a forum community. We inspire each other, learn from each other, and generally have a good time doing it!

| the 12 hp flatty is one of my favorite engines. Simple, no frills, lightweight... It's the VW flat 4 of the mower community. You can fix 'em on the fly with a cereal box and a flat screwdriver... LOL For power vs weght and simple maintainability, the 12 really shines on lighter mowers. I believe I heard Fearless say something along the lines of "Anything over 12 hp is overkill" I'm sure he meant on the lighter murrays and such. Dunno If it would be my first choice for the heavy Metal machines, like my case (though it did come stock with a 12 hp) | |

| Regardless of Fearless' actual intent, (who knows, maybe he will appear and clarify) there is an element of overall truth to it. For your average offroader, 12hp is plenty. A lot of today's new machines boast 20-30hp. Why? Pecker envy, mostly.
This is well-evidenced by looking at a few things.
1)You're NOT running implements AND driving, as the machine was originally intended to do. By not cutting grass, plowing or blowing snow, cultivating, etc- you're NOT using a lot of power.
2)There are many garden tractors and compact tractors (bigger then a garden tractor, smaller than a fullsize) that run 12-15hp. These machines run full, ground-engaging implements while still having the power to propel themselves. A great example of this is the Yanmar 130D I might be laying my sticky little mitts on. 13hp, 2cyl, 4wd, and the tractor alone weighs just north of 1000lbs. If 13hp can push THAT, AND run implements... well- you do the math.
3)The original VW beetles came with a 24hp engine, They weighed 1600lbs, carried 4 passengers to 60MPH, and were only 25hp.
Now- there are many facets to the argument, but the long and short of it, is that too many people will go ahead and pooh-pooh a smaller engine- for no particularly good reason.

| I did some minor things to the RMWS.
Revised my approach on the chain tensioner, and some other stuff.
I also got the rally (the old one) back on it's feet since a 1-2 month break. I also realized that i cracked the frame again around the front axle and some of my motor mounts are now slots that the motor slides around in when I gas it. So basically when the build-off is done this summer I will probably get a new frame for the old rally or a can rob all the good parts off of it and start with a newer AYP style mower (so parts can be swapped).
But all of this is to be worried about after the build-off ends.
That's all for today. | |

Too bad the Robinsons are giving southerners a bad bame, but in a way they're getting respect across the country, because of their strong belief and generally good ethics. I'd rather watch DD than the new one "Party Down South" I think it's called. That one is just disgusting IMHO. That really is a matter of perspective. I don't think the Robertsons give southerners a bad name at all. I am a Duck Dynasty fan, I watch it whenever I can. Here's the deal, from my eyes: *The Robertsons have values- GOOD ones. Today's society is REALLY starting to stink if you ask me, and I find it refreshing. No, I'm not religious- not in the least- but I think if more people lived by those codes the world would be a better place. *They are Self-sufficient and resourceful. They can live off the land with ease- more than we can say for sophisticated city folk. City folk get a flat tire, they're on the cellphone to AAA. You suck. *They tease each other, but at the end of the day, they'd go to the ends of the world for each other. *They goof off and have fun. Where exactly is the problem with this? *Yeah, they've got a ton of money. They earned it. 40 years in the business of making duck calls. Not like they got it making porn, running a ponzi scheme, or bilking old ladies of their life's savings. Basic, honest capitalism. No problem there. I should be so lucky. *Yeah- they play up the redneck stereotype. If it offended THEM, they wouldn't do it. You should not be offended either. Works for Foxworthy, too (and others). Have a laugh- enjoy life a bit.

| I like DD and I understand that they are playing dumb. I hope the masses realize that too and don't just think southerners are uneducated or stupid. They're no different than the rest of the population in that sense. I also commend Phil for standing up to A&E network. He was not happy about them making BLEEPS where there were no bad words, to make it seem like there was. He also had issues with them cutting out whenever he talked about God. REALLY??? That's not reality at all. That's that the family is all about. Why cut it out? He was set up by GQ magazine who has no morals or business ethics. He shouldn't be punished for speaking his beliefs. I fought a war for our freedoms. Let's exercise our rights. Be who you want to be. If somebody doesn't like then they need to stfu and mind their own business. That's what I fought for. That's freedom. I'm not a regular churchgoer, but I do believe in the message. The 10 commandments were written for a reason. It's ethics and morals and all that stuff. I am not impressed with A&E for the BS that they put the Robinsons through for having beliefs and a faith. I guess they're concerned that the audience might be offended by the mention of God, but they'll turn around and air an entire show about drunk 20-somethings that are so incredibly stupid, it's impossible to watch. I could go on but I'm hungry. Night guys! | |

|
...And now back you your regularly scheduled thread!
But wait there's more! jk lol. I actually did take the tractor down the street yesterday. The clutch idler bearing siezed, the belt sawed the idler in half and I barely limped it home. And the entire time I thought the smell was the new exhaust burning in. So then it wouldn't crank and I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't hold a charge.... Turns out that if your battery flips on it's side and a bolt punches a hole in the side of it, That's a bad thing... $80 later, she's up and running again. Maybe I'll get a video of the exhaust and some pics of the destruction before I break it again....
