bolens G-10/1055 front wheels

hey guys, i have a bolens 1055 and i HAVE to put new front tires on. there is one problem. i cant figure out how to remove the wheel from the spindle! it seems there is a collar with a set screw, using an allen head bolt. i used every allen wrench to my disposal, metric and US. none of them fit. i dont know if im doing something wrong or what. if you guys can give me any info on how this system works, it'd be greatly appreciated. i can get pics tomorrow if yall want.

well, i hate to raise this from the dead, but i still havent found one that fits.. and neither of my fronts will hold air for more than 12 hrs, so i NEED to get them off and change them, before winter. i might just have to drill the set screws out

I can't imagine the hex to be any kind of freaky, non-imperial-yet-non-metric size. Perhaps some surface rust or crud has altered the dimension, causing your issues finding a fit. certainly, a common problem. I don't suppose you have a spiral-fluted extractor you can smack in there to back them out?

Failing that, you'll probably have to either drill out the set screws, or split the collars.

I'd say its not a huge loss if you have to drill them out, it could probally use new collars.

i'll grab a set of extractors.. you yall think its just a collar? its hard to tell, but i guess if it comes down to it i could always just get some new ones
