| A crossover pipe helps with bottom end torque.
RUnning without one maximizes top end horsepower.
Most twin and multi cylinder bikes run one, some run a resonance chamber.

There's a small diff between a v twin and appossed LOL Quite a lot indeed, tho I see many mistake em and mix em up. I want one so I can have dual stacks and act like a motorcycle haha Dual stacks with a bridge, what I've read about twins it seems they like to share exhaust, like the two | | are joined like |-| they like to "talk" to each other. Lol Yes. A crossover pipe helps keep just a little backpressure in the system. Always need just a little anyway. Want to make it 'cackle' like a Harley? Use glass-pack mufflers for a Volkswagen Beetle. Trust me Like a x-pipe in a car. Sounds better too. To many quotes too lol is there a record/limit? if there is, your not close to it lol i seen another one that had alot more

| Thanks for your opinions on the engine and it looks like you all have said the 22HP opposed twin briggs and that is what I am going to use.. The exhaust I will make a crossover exhaust so I will get bottom end torque and don't actually have to blow it up to get out of a mud pit.. I have spoke to a friend which is willing to sand blast my mower chassis to remove the rust and old paint, and etch primer it so it won't rust again he also said that he wouldn't mind doing it for FREE... The steering will stay stock for the moment but will be changed when I make the front axle longer to fit bigger tires on the front so if any one has any idea on direct steering that would be great I also have another decision on that front should I have handle bars with a thumb throttle or a steering wheel with a gas pedal.. Also pulley ratios have come to mind and to be honest I don't have a clue about them.. | |

ill keep it going! Haha, and yea like copperhead said, you need backpressure. I heard that you can warp valves with no exhaust

Yes backpressure helps your motor run and last longer.
