Nice fab work on the exhaust. Going to need a couple of braces for the long one. i dont think engines work like that stretch... i like it red, looks.. original, to say the least. but if we all went by the books here, it wouldnt be much fun now would it? cant wait to hear them pipes Wiring it up today. Stock gas tank bearly fits. It's like 1" away from the head. Is that to close? no, mine is like 1/2" away stock MTD

| Ah, i was just wondering becuse it was VERY close to the head, im asuming (but i dunno) that it would be hot too on the back, but not as much, its in the neighborhood of 4" away from the head now and only making contact with the shroud, i feel alot better about it. | |

| Nice. If your worried about the fuel tank being close to the head, just put a piece of tin between them. | |

Not really now. Not warm at all after a run. Just trying to figure out a air filter now

| Looks like it fits next the the housing pretty good. If you have trouble getting it sealed up welding it, or just don't want to weld all the way around every seam, you can use jb weld or something similar. You don't see it after you paint over it. Just an idea. I had some rough looking welds on an intake I made one time and jb welded over it just to make sure it was sealed. Not that this is quite as critical since it's before the carb. Your going to have the air cleaner sticking throught the hood right? | |

air filter won't be sticking thru the hood, I thought about it. I think umma weld it up solid and grind it down but thanks for the future pointers. - GenevaCustoms wrote:

It's easier that way! I misread the part about cutting the hole for the gas cap, and thought you meant for the air cleaner. Don't know how that happened, maybe I have dyslexia.

| Nice to see a "snorkel" with a filter on it. A lot of guys skip the filter. A lot of guys ruin their engines. Looks a bit restrictive with the sharp turns in there- with any luck the diameter will make up for it. | |

Yea I guess you can call or a snorkel. It was mostly built so the filter will fit under the hood. Maybe the aftermarket filter and the more restrictive pipe will be about the same as a stock air filter, I'm not to worried.

| Red you amaze me everytime with your fab skillz, great work! If you saw Mowerdude's "Sand" engine, you better get an airfilter, there's is a reason why they run dual, tripple and four stage airfilters you know But ofcourse if it's a motor you don't care for, then it really don't matter.

But ofcourse if it's a motor you don't care for, then it really don't matter. yes, I did see that pic..... we bought a filter for it but the gas ate it and it was to restrictive and the engine didn't rev up above idle.
