| No govenor on our motors, stock engines. We spin them until they run out of power, they seem to last for years. Just keep clean oil in them. | |

| I wouldnt suggest going over 3600 rpms - wouldnt suggest removing the governer either UNLESS its been properly prepped, like billet flywheel and other go fast parts.
I had some pics somewhere of a pulling lawntractor - the flywheel exploded, took a serious chunk of the frame out of the tractor, part of the guy's leg standing next to it and it eventually stuck into the side of a steel barn a few yards away.
If you cant make enough power , get a bigger motor - i ran a stock governed 18.5HP twin on my murray and i was able to hit 30 plus mph easily ( was capable of more, but tractor was too unstable). | |

| Not going to happen bud. If you over-drive the hydro you will just destroy the pump. | |

| Without upgrading other components I would Probly say it's safe to run about 4500 with a billet | |

| Haha dang, well heres something. I wouldn't worry about the flywheel exploding due to high revs since it's hardened steel, but rather braking a rod. It's a hit and miss situation, some engines will last awhile without a governor, and others wont last 5 minutes, it all depends. I would suggest a billet flywheel later on, but just to romp ungoverned get a billet rod. If you have a 12.5hp briggs you can run a 31ci OHV rod in them rather then the billet and they last a long long time (much stronger then the stock rods of a flatty 28ci briggs). | |
