That a geared or a hydro? If geared should look a lot like my Red Bandit. Check out my topic on that in my signature. Absolutely check out @Crazy_Carl ‘s topic on Red Stag and Ol’ Red in his signature. Maybe look up @Creepycrawler ‘s topic on Rusty.

According to Tractor Data the 800 is a hydro and the Special has a 3 speed Peerless but I see no mention of Hi/Lo so maybe it has a 1200? I'm not sure of what other 3 Speeds there are that were made back then (but I don't claim to know all)
Looks like that tractor was only made for one year in 1971 which is pretty cool! Definitely looks/sounds like a great platform to start with!
Looks like you’ve got the 3 speed unidrive, same trans thats in my lawn ranger. I’ve had good luck with mine but i am running small tires and low hp. I do see that oppy sitting there lol.
@RichieRichOverdrive I have 2 800 Special's, one the transaxle is great and one has issues. Yes you do see an Opposed, unfortunately needs a rebuild... the first time i had it running it started knocking after i rev'd it.

What issues does your trans have? When i got my 3 speed it would get stuck in two gears at once and do all sorts of funky stuff. Turns out all it needed was a new roll pin on a shift fork. Everything else in them is just bearings and seals really.
