I know on brake lines you never reuse a cooper gasket, never heard doubling up on one, that would seem to promote a leak. Maybe the threads are stripped and they were trying not to engage them by spacing the plug further away?
Maybe it was just by accident and they forgot to remove the old one. Sort of like a double gasket an oil filter when the gasket sticks to the mounting surface.

Or the gasket I didn't see on one of the pressure lines on the pump got put on the plug.

Yep, a possibility. If you have "OFRS" (?) , basically a flat surface that takes a seal (nitrite?), you do not use a cooper gasket, just the o-ring. I noticed that on my chinesium log splitter (which has worked great) it uses those instead of NPT and such. Was reading on surpluscenter that is the future of hydraulic hoses, not, NPT.
Of course most of the product surplus center sells uses NPT threads, especially the pumps.

I have been using the Kubota for mowing duty a bit. It works very well, but still has that leak. Haven't 100% pinpointed the actual leak yet. I did replace the two brass washer/gaskets on the lines to the pump and that got rid of about 80% of the leaking. I fear the rest is coming from where the pump is attached into the transaxle. A full winter teardown may be in order. And that looks like a big job.

Since that last post the leak became a full stream. I was able to pinpoint a leak, and started the teardown process. I found that the top 3 high pressure lines were loose, one very loose. Low pressure line not on completely, but was not leaking. One other high pressure line that was loose as well on the pump. I got all them tightened up, refilled the trans with some hydro fluid with some red die. I have ran it now about 10-15 minutes running the transaxle in forward and reverse, as well as running the lift cylinder up and down for the deck and stearing left and right a lot. After all that, I only see one drip that is not red, so it could be some residual fluid on the outside casing.
I also didn't realize, I bent the front frame on this thing trying to knock over a tree. LOL
Now to sharpen the blades and give it a test run this weekend.

Looks like time for a new bumper. I think on my project, I am going with a piece of balsa wood across the steel frame member.bumper, instead of a 2x4 to absorb minor impacts, without tweaking anything. Since balsa wood is much softer.
Though a Balsa Wood 2 X 4 X 36 in is almost $58 !

LOL unfortunately, that is part of the frame. Easiest way to straighten would be to cut it off, flatten it and reweld. I think I'll keep it as a beauty mark. I spent the better part of the past 6 hours mowing a 4 acre lot that was severely overgrown. At least an acre of it was 4-6 ft tall, the other 3 anywhere from 8 inches to 3 ft.
Tractor has been sitting in the garage about 45 minutes now no leaks. YAY.

Nice that you were able to solve the leaking without buying expensive parts. Chopping the weeds would have made a good video. Especially from a drone's view.

OK guys... bear with me. Now that The Great Pumpkin isn't just a myth of a 6K freebee mower anymore. Now that the hydro leaks are currently fixed. It's time to clean it up, give it some maintenance. Make the hood not bland anymore and give it a proper name.
So, it's in the middle of maintenance, I would like to Re-Introduce the Kubota GR2100 formerly known as the Great Pumpkin....
Meet my biggest, meanest and baddest mower right now....
The GENERAL!

I would do the LOF ASAP, since replacing the diesel motor would be $$$$. The motor is probably $5,000+ NIB. When doing the LOF, put the new oil bottles on the driver's seat, that way you do not forget the refill if you get distracted.
> Buy or make a front brush guard.
That would be my first upgrade, protect the engine and hood. Took me a minute to spot the number addition :-D
Maybe a magnetic cup holder?
It does not look like you can easily attach a sleeve hitch, but, I bet with a small 2" ball, you could haul some implements using the beefy draw bar.
Still looking myself for a unicorn diesel mower at auctions that cost less then $3000.

Mutt actually did have a cupholder factory. I remember pulling it out of the fender when i put the executioners on. Or it might have been before that when i put chains on the turfs.

I haven't heard the acronym or phrase LOF.

Does this thing have a shaft drive deck?
Yes it does!

In the automotive sector LOF = Lube Oil Filter - in the 1990s use to pay flat rate .3 for most cars and light trucks except diesels. Probably pays less on a Tesla.
I see the cup holder :-D

Good to know. Oil is draining now. I’m going to let it drip all day today and tomorrow. I have the oil. Just not the filter yet. Filter looks to be a sloppy job.

So earlier today, got the oil done, new blades on the deck. That mowing job last week that took me 6 hrs at the neighbor's, it only took me 2 hours today since it has only grown a few inches. Last turn to come back home and the steering gets REAL LOOSE and can hardly turn right. Get to the pavement and yep, there is a stream of hydraulic fluid being left behind me. Get to the garage and it appears the front steering has sprung a leak. Yee.... haw. Not looking forward to digging into this one. Hopefully it isn't too bad and just needs an o-ring or something simple.

I walked out to the grarage a few minutes ago and now I see a new puddle in the back. I think I will park this in the tree line until another day. It's just more than I want to deal with right now.

Bummer! I was liking it so much, I decided to see again what a new Kuboto CR2100 (?) diesel 4x4 mower would cost me, I gave up after the $13,000 starting price tag.
If these use a flat faced o-ring seal, you might have to replace all the o-rings and then torque all the connectors to specs.
I know with many NPT fittings, you can consider them a use once fitting, though using the teflon hydraulic sealant in a tube seems to work.
I used to sell and install a security lock for vehicles (the original brakelock.com) where you press on the brakes and then turn a key, that locks the pressure inside the line, with a ball valve, there by locking the brakes. Sort of line a tow truck brake loc. Making it very hard to steal without a tow truck. Even though it was using the standard double flared SAE lines, the only thing to prevent leaks on a reliable basis was the sealant in a tube.
I am sure you will get it sorted out, I would tarp it, it is pretty nice looking.
