Hello,
I have a question for you guys. Has anyone of you ever tryed to use a PTO shaft gearbox that you find on big and small agricultural tractors and connect it to a lawntractor egnine (i have a 11hp one) so you have a horizontal shaft for a gokart axle? I looked on google and there are also smaller pto shaft sizes, so this should work without robbing the engine much power, right? Using Pto shaft gerbox (90°) on lawntractor engine Zapfwe10

Because no one has replied, Im just gonna order one of those gearboxes and try to use them on a horizontal shaft honda engine and connect the engine with this 90° gearbox to a stock Lawntractor
transaxle.
A gearbox (the one on the picture in my post above) is 80€ and im ok with that price so im gonna try it.

Sorry man I don't remember seeing your question or I would've replied, I've never used one like you're wanting to but can offer a little insight. Yes it's going to rob a little bit of power (probably 1-2 hp) there's no getting around that but only the manufacturer will truly have an idea of how much. The gear ratio is going to make a big difference as well, do you know what it is? If I were you I'd be researching into the gear ratios of a Peerless 700 gearbox and their uses in mower racing to get an idea if this gearbox could work as you want it to.

Hope this helps a little.

Aye... guess the notification thing goes back further than I thought.  I agree with @Brianator!  HP loss would be minimal.

CarsandCamera's used one with a 5hp engine for a red wagon go-kart and they had no issues with the right angle gearbox.

@Brianator
The Gearbox has a gear ratio of 1:1, so there is no change in the output shafts speed.
The reason why i want to use the 90° gearbox is because i want to have a chinese honda GX clone (200cc) to drive a peerless 700 gearbox for one of my projects, i cant get a real lawntractor transaxle for cheap here in germany.
I dont know the gear ratios of the peerless 700's i have laying around....

@muddybasilisk
On Ebay, i even found one for 63€, shipping is about 5€.
You can search for:
Angle Transmission for Fertilizer Shakers.
here's the link (idk if it ships to the USA):

FWIW: Those RAGB for AGRI usually have an 1800 RPM speed limit. You can buy them at surpluscenter, ECC, etc. So, I would think about having a 2:1 ratio on the pulley system if not being direct drive with a lovejoy connector.
