That’s a picture right on the back of the shroud, and I’m up in nw WA, temperatures get down to freezing during the winter but not for too long normally, I’m not too worried, especially since the oil will only be freezing for about 30 seconds once it starts

I run 30w in all my machines regardless of the label(s) until it it gets cool enough then I switch over to 5w30, I feel it can't hurt to have the extra protection upon cold starts.

So I’ve tried a set of 26mm mikuni knockoffs instead of stock carbs, used the factory intake, seeming to work well. I still don’t have it tuned in perfectly yet but so far these carbs are a whole lot better than the stock carbs, if you aren’t worried about having a governor id recommend upgrading the carbs on one of these engines

I was planning on running ungoverned with that carb setup, which is why I was concerned with reliability. These engines are not particularly easy to find around me. I’m definitely looking forward to playing with it though.

Been getting my truck fixed up for winter so I haven’t had a chance to mess with it at all yet

Yeah I feel that, I’ve only ever seen this one in person, not common engines for sure lol

Forgive my sacrilege but if these engines are so hard to find then why go with them at all?
I guess swapping them out for a more common reliable engine and selling the Tecumseh would be alot easier.

I’m building one simply because it’s neat and different. Factory dual carbs and a lot of cubic inches can make a ton of power. There are guys that pull with them and race them and they can be built into absolute BEASTS with a little effort. Finding the information on stock today durability was where I was having issues

I have a 20hp v twin Tecumseh. Runs good but curious about the dual carb swap you mentioned.. any part numbers on the slide carbs you used and throttle setup would be nice. Working on making the mower an off-road, trail mower. I just about got all the kinks worked out and looking at putting a pedal for throttle and putting a bigger pulley on the engine. Don't need super fast just faster, idk, 10- 15 mph? Mud tires definitely next once I get fuel issues fixed. And advice appreciated!
