Can i pully swap this?

Can i pully swap this without blowing the transmission i want to get some speed out if it not much just enough for some fun and is it hydro or varidrive i have another mtd that has the 6 speed varidrive.

It sounds like a vari drive to me. The easiest way to tell the difference between the two is to look underneath and if you have a plastic fan blade over the trans it’s a hydro. Don’t try and pulley swap the hydros because they will die quickly. Vari drives it can be done but it is frustrating and the belts may not last if you play with the rear pulley size. I’d say put a bigger front pulley on and you can hit 10 or so with that just by using the pulley stack inverted. Try it and see what ya think. Good luck!

Ill replace the pully with a very big pully if its varidrive i hope it is because i know i can modify a vari drive just i hope its not hydro if its hydro can i just put the fnr trans from the other mtd in it without varidrive and run a normal clutch?

You could, but with all the work involved in that I’d just wait another month and pickup an AYP chassis. Craftsman IIs do well with speed mods. FNRs don’t play nice with regular transaxles either, so you might have to create mounting brackets and make new linkages etc. Hope that helps.
