| Trapped in a wornout ol body kid at heart. Went looking around youtube for ideas for a UTV / mini truck I plan to build out of used mower parts. I still have some decent junk piles from my old lawnmower repair shop. Anyway one thing led to another and I ended up here and saw doc sprocket was a member and joined. Thought the locker videos were well done and since lockable 4x4 and diffs are part of my planned build.... Not to mention lots of HP. I drag raced for 20 years and miss the adrenaline. We live way out in the sticks 2 miles from pavement so an off-road build is the obvious choice.
My intended build won't be a lawnmower or garden tractor but it will be largely of used lawn and garden parts. Is that going to be okay with you folks? A 122419X transaxle is almost ready for disassembly. I hope to find a way to swap some of the internals to reduce the final drive ratio. Looks like it's 9:1 now 0.9:1 would suit my build better since its to be a transmission and transfer case in one. I also already have a lightly modified craftsman II we use regularly. Couple other ideas kicking around too. Might just have to build something way quick also.

| Welcome to the forum! Your build plan sounds pretty cool and it will definitely be okay to document it here.
The 122419X should be a good transaxle to use. I have one in a tractor build of mine and I really like it, the dual range feature is very neat! | Welcome! We share some completely non tractor related builds on the off topic section. Your build sounds like it would fit into the utility forum, I’m sure @Mightyraze can get you a link if you haven’t found your way there yet

| Thanks everyone. I'mlooking around at threads new and old.
Want to open up the transaxle and get an idea if I can change the gearing around any before I start. That will hopefully let me know if I can use it as I'd intended or back to hunting other ideas. This needs to be built as much as possible out of parts on hand there is no budget for it.

| Don't get lost back there. There are some good threads from the past, and some unfortunately, just as you are getting really interested the person stopped posting. Facebook is a killer to these old forums. @Doc Sprocket Doesn't post much anymore but I see he still logs in and lurks from time to time. | |
