Wife got me a john deere

Well few weeks ago we was at a friend's house helping on a goat pin when I seen the house next door has a small JD garden tractor t could make out the model number as it was with a lot of biger tractors the old man that lived there restored old tractors so me joking with the wife after she been on me to tell her what I wanted for my birthday I was like get me that old jd mower over there its probably a 80s model but come to find out the wife told her friend witch is good friends with the little old lady that owns the garden tractor after she told the old lady I was thanking about making a pulling tractor the sweet old lady was like he can have it my husband would have love the idea of a mini pulling tractor so needless to say were pulling it home tonight I'll post pics and info when I get it home

**Admin out of topic comment.  When you post your pix, make sure all you have is the http://.../picture.jpg part and use the Image insert button (2 left of YouTube) when inserting your images from an external site.  Some reason you have been posting an html link in there with the <a href.. >  I've been going behind and cleaning them up. That is all! 

Well turns out it's a 73 model 110 john deer with kohler motor body pretty good for age we just got it dug out took a little bit to get it pulled out back brake was locked up I'll try to get pics tomorrow I know were going to swap to the round fenders and tractor seat

Not sure what the issue is with the links. I tried a little hack, and noticed I could get to the pix if I removed the "2img .net/h/" but it has the photobucket watermark. If you try to share without it, some how the 2img .net part comes back in.

Hey MightyRaze have u ever had the rear axel apart that's the reason this one was parked old lady could not really remember what was wrong with it but she knew the trans was why he parked it

Does it have a 2300 Peerless in it? I'm guessing so.

Here is a starting point for my 2300 teardown. Pretty simple just keep things straight and should be good.

Does it shift? If not, I bet the shift forks are rusted stuck. If not, you'll have to tear into it and see.

Yeah, they're pretty hard to break.

Anything can be broken. I saw guy on GTTalk break his 2300 in a Gilson with a FEL. Sheared an axle shaft and broke the axle housing I believe.

A shift fork issue like Mighty mentioned is probably a good first place to check out. Also check if the pulley spins nicely in neutral.
