So, I've been out of town since Wednesday and still am so nothing has been touched. Did a 20 minute long update video Tuesday night and was gonna post it then, but the internet was down. Gonna post it on Monday when I'm back. In the mean time, only the dust will touch it.

Alright, the video is out! Please disregard the timing. This was recorded Tuesday night and I am back from my trip... Work on the transaxle starts tonight.

Heh, nope. 1/2" and 3/4" heads... I chuckle every time I see them because of how ridiculously large they are.
Well, dug into the tranny last night... The locker is fine, but the axle is not. Turns out the weld-on hub was fine... The axle was too big (by less than a 16th of an inch) from the factory, so that's why the weld-on hub wouldn't fit. But now the bearings don't fit, so I have to spend today sanding the axle.... . But after that I should be able to throw it back together. So, first off, I drained the oil, cleaned the cases, put all the gears in bags to protect them from dust, and painted the cases...
Then I vented it...
And I also managed to install the grease fitting... It was actually rather easy.
How the tranny was left for the night....
And this build wouldn't be complete without the Stars and Stripes of our Flag somewhere...
By the end of the week, she'll be on four wheels again!

Interesting vent location. Also, is it plastic? It will be interesting how that holds up under normal stresses. Lookin good. I also have the tendency to put flags on my build too.

Thanks! I had to vent it there because the length of the fitting is too long and it would hit the shifter. I'll most likely end up drilling a hole in the skid plate for the tube since it comes so close to the trans itself. I think it'll hold up for a solid 4 years. And yes it's plastic with no threads... I just forced it in there real hard so it doesn't leak... I'll probably RTV it tomorrow.
I think it'll be done in about 2 weeks. I sure am looking forward to finishing this thing... It's been a beat down.

That would make the old ones 5/16" and the new ones 1/2" bolts. 1/2" should be much better!
Yeah that's what I meant. 3/4" heads and 1/2" diameter. It still has movement, but it's the front end itself, and there's no minor mod to fix that so.
In the mean time, the bearings are on, I drilled holes in the ends of the axle so I can use cotter pins instead of stupid E-clips, and I sealed the key way in the axle. I'm gonna let it dry overnight and in the morning I will put the trans back together. Tomorrow night I'll fill it with oil and get it all put back in and hopefully... Hopefully, a test drive...
EDIT: BTW, the Christmas parade is sadly not going to happen. 1, we'll be out of town, 2, I have to be 16 years old to be a driver... Well I'm not there yet. So, until 2021, the Christmas parade will not happen.

Well, the tranny is finally back together (I think). Had to take it apart TWICE after assembling it. First time forgot to seal the 2 bolts in the middle. Second time was because the input shaft wouldn't budge. Had to remove a couple washers. Anyway, I laid a bead of RTV twice to make sure she doesn't leak.
Gonna tighten all the bolts down in about 10 minutes. I'm gonna fill it with oil and put it back under the mower tonight... Be nice to see it on four wheels again. I won't have a belt till tomorrow unless I have a spare I don't know about.

4 inch and I flipped the front pulley upside down. My brother ran 6 to 4 with 18" tires and got about 20MPH. I have about 4 to 4 with 20" tires and I clock in just under him with a little belt slippage and a single pulley clutch and just under the stock RPMs. Now I have a double pulley clutch, no belt slippage (when I get a belt), and it runs well over the stock RPMs. So I'll probably clock in with a final top speed of about 20 MPH.

Well, things sure didn't turn out like I expected... The clean shop I was looking forward to is a mess. The trans is all assembled and oil filled. It's back under the machine, but the skid plate doesn't fit right, and belt changes are gonna be a pain let alone finding one. I ordered a 93" belt and I'll probably end up getting a 97" next. Had to remove the winch until the skid plate is mounted...
At least it's kinda sitting on four wheels. Anyway, the vent tube is done, the RN12345 labels are accurate, I don't THINK it leaks anymore... Maybe, just maybe I'll pull this off in two weeks.

Looking good. Did you build a double pulley or use a Murray hydro setup? I’ve tried both and actually have less slippage with the stock single set up. I was able to use the same belt length with either setup surprisingly.

Double pulley out of my red hydro. Had belt slippage for a while, then I replaced the belt and it worked perfect. Yeah I used the original belt (off this one) on my red one. Now that you mention it, that belt should be too big... Guess I just thought that was the belt I tried last night, I'll have to find that thing.

Well, found the belt. Tried it, adjusted the clutch, still too small and now I'm holding ice on my face. I am pissed off right now. Gonna cool off and come back with a more accurate belt size and finish that pair of needle nose pliers.

Well, picked up a 99" belt and it's STILL too small. At least I managed to fit it around all the pulleys. So, I'm taking it back and getting a 101" belt since I have an adjustable clutch that allows me to run various belt sizes.
