Hi everyone andy from Southwest Michigan my current build is my late grandfather's 1977 Sears st8. So far I swapped out the steel rolled front Axel with a cast iron one and just finish swapping the stock 8hp Briggs flathead for a kohler command 22hp vtwin still working out some electrical problems at the moment. It was a pleasant surprise to find out other like wrenching on these tractors too

I just realized I forgot the pics haha I'll download them and start a build thread right now. Oh one thing I wanted to mention was that in Kalamazoo there is a huge pull your own part tractor yard I don't know how common those are never so one before but it's a gold mine

Good to have ya! I’ve got one of those yards near me too and since I’m in there so often the guys cut me some really good deals

Sounds like you have a pretty good start, surprisingly not too many people go the vtwin route with their sears, not that I have seen anyway. Doc did with project commando, but he used a vanguard. Most people go the diesel route or keep the old engine

Can’t wait to see some pics and details in the build thread

Thank you glad to be hear, honestly my original plan was to convert to a horizontal preditor until I could find one of those Chinese deisels but dang everywhere have a min order. But I was at the yard look for some rear wheels off a Craftsman GT and they brought out a bunch of new to them untouched tractorsand for 100 bucks I couldn't pass. I think the build thread is up now it bounces around a lil bc I've been working on it already about a month
