That's not a bad idea. It's better than using the briggs for sure. But come on there's already a ton of diesel all terrain lawn tractors out there. Not enough of them with the good ole Kohlers in them.

I would say keep the kohler too, it's designed to fit in that tractor and any frame modification would be very hard as the frame is like 3/8 inch thick.

Ah, just some fun. We all agreed, the briggs would not be a good upgrade. Diesel was about 50/50 - 60/40 ish. Everyone wanted to see the Kohler live. LOL.

I actually found a picture online of a diesel clone in a 112, the frame had to be cut, the hood was also cut up, and the whole hood had to be raised 3" to clear. It didn't look right in my opinion, plus there was some welding involved. And that was only for a yanmar clone, so a bigger one would be a nightmare. The Kohler K Series are workhorses, I don't think you'd have a lack of power even with just a K181.

$350 doesnt seem to bad for a diesel... then you have $400 for shipping! For that much you could certainly rebuild on of those kohlers. Make more power than that diesel. Youd be one of the cool kids with a k series Kohler.

Well the compression ratio is about 6:1 on those stock I think, that's nowhere near high enough to run diesel. The head, studs, and internals would need upgraded to handle compression that high as well. Where are you going to put the injector? They're too long to be just threaded into the spark plug hole or whatever, and how will the injection system be run? Gonna have to adapt a pump that runs off the engine somehow and make it timed perfectly to get it to actually fire. I'm sure I'm forgetting some stuff, haha, but I wouldn't think it would really be worth it.

That's the only thing that shouldn't have an issue, cause it's a tough old K series!!! But yeah I'm not actually going to do that, I was mostly kidding. But still....

Nah, at the very least the aluminum head would fail, especially if you modified it trying to increase compression. They are tough old engines, that's why we're trying to get you to keep one in a tractor that desreves one, hahaha.
