[Complete] MTD Rasentrac B10 Garden and Offroad Mower [2018 Build-Off Entry}

Cool build. I an jealous of the amounts of updates. If I had a good camera I would update my topics so much more.

@Crazy_Carl the zip ties are factory and on this place since 1994. Because I do`nt want to replace it, I let the Gas Tank on place. Tomorrow I can work more on my Offroad Mower.    Today I needed to do some work in the garden.

More work done today

I tried to put my Murray front Wheels on the MTD axle, but the Axle shaft diameter is 16mm and the inner diameter of the Rim was 19mm. But in the Garage i found some old plastic pipe inner Diameter 16mm, outer diameter 20mm. I put the Pipe in my lathe, turned the pipe to 19,5mm, and pounded the pipe into the inner hole of the Rim.



Original front Tires are 13x6x6. Those now are 15x6x6. On the Rims i put 145x70x6 Tires. Those Turf Tires are mostly slicks



Now i pressure washed the mower deck, and found some rust holes





I took the complete mower deck apart and disassembled the Spindles.









I cut out the rusty spot and made a new piece and welded it on the place.









I removed the Rust from the mower deck and the old paint with the angle grinder





then the welding wire were empty, and the fan disc were completely used up





I cleaned up the shop







Next I need to buy some paint and  primer and underbody protection and new spindles, because the old ones are pretty worn out.





And I got the next Package
Gear Oil for the Peerless

Thanks. I make the pictures with my Phone. It`s a Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini. IDK how much Megapixels, but the Pictures are good enough for me.

Sunday work Update

in germany sunday is known as a rest day that you do not work there, but I still work
Today we got nice weather and it`s warm and sunny, and when this happens, i can prime the mower deck but I`m 3/4 done, the primer were empty







The mower deck needs to dry, my primer is empty, so i decided to refurbish the blades and some other parts from the mower deck like the Pulleys.







Hopefully my Bearings, Needle Bearings and Seals for the Transaxle arrive my House soon, I want to reassemble the Transxle

Lookin real good. I think I might sell the deck that came with my craftsman. It has a few rust holes but I need to take it off and have a look.

Well you're the only guy with a true "mud mower" I guess. You'll be able to ride some mud trails with it and mow.

we`ll see if the mower can handle some mud trails or breaks down

The tractor I mow with offroads in its off time, takes it just fine!

Tire and Rim work

The crappy Turf Tires they were on the Murray Rims are completely junk.  I took of the Wheels from my 110cc chinese ATV to change the tires to use the ATV tires on the Mower and make a few burnouts with the turf tires until they blew up.

cleaned the rims and tires to reassemble them



want to put the turfs on the ATV rims. I had it on, but once i would put some air in the tires, but the air were leaking out of all the cracks and to fix those tires is`nt worth it so i put them into my garbage pile.



I`m not sure if i use the ATV tires or if i buy some tires like these for my front wheels.



Now i decided to sand the rims and make them ready for painting before i put the new tires on. It works good with my metal lathe and a wire brush into my drill





And until i took a look into my mailbox i found the Axle Bearings for my Peerless MST 206



Which front tires should I use? the ATV tires from ebay or those i had lying around?

Ones you had around. They look awesome, and should perform great!

The ones you took off of your chinese ATV look pretty good.  They kinda look like these dirt devil tires.

Thanks. Then I need to buy some new Tires for my ATV once the Engine were fixed On Road they`re making a lot of Vibrations when you had a beer box in the back

Vibrations on a beer run, that will never do, LOL.

Some video on youtube has a drunk guy riding his laen mower pulling shopping carrs with an extension cord cause his lisence was taken away from drunk driving. Pretty ingenous but not sure if it was a real or stagged video.

Those tires look like what come on some larger off road go carts.

After a few Days of waiting for my parts, i had got the needle Bearings for the Input Shaft for my Peerless MST 206.



after the good reviews of those chinese ATV Tires, I decided to put them back on their rims, because my ATV needs those tires, and buy 2 of them new for my mower.



And I had started to plan a new wiring harness, because i want to add some electricial parts like backlights,.... and remove the safety switches because they're killing the Engine when you want to drive reverse with Mower Deck engaged,..... Stupid!

Putting a geared transaxle in an mtd and getting rid of the vari drive is a very big improvement . Its quite awesome that your in Germany , there are people from every place it seems on here and it makes very it very interesting to see what you have to go through to get parts for these machines.

Yes, a geared Transaxle is realy good. but you had understand it wrong. I want to replace the FNR Transaxle with the Peerless MST 206 and let the Varidrive installed. Want to have a lot of Gears for Yard Work and Offroading.  To find some good parts is very difficult, because everything for garden equipment is really expensive in germany, so i need to look a lot and wait until i found a cheaper one. Once i got my mower, the Varidrive had slipped sometimes when you put it in a low gear. But i think it will be fixed with some nice kevlar belts and to put more tention on the springs to get more friction between the belt and the varidrive.

Might check your manual for that varidrive. Some of them took a special beveled (the V shape) belt.

Once upon a time I had an MTD with an Oppy. I pretty sure one of the belts didn't look like a regular v belt either. It looked more like a belt from a torque converter or CVT.

Yeah the belts on vari-drive setups are 5/8" wide, as opposed to 1/2". I think they have to be 5/8" for the vari-drive to work correctly too.

Thanks for the Belt Help. Those Belts i had removed, to remove the Varidrive looks like a standard Lawn Tractor Belt with a V shape to have friction on the sides of the pulley.
