Possibly running a 1/2 inch belt where a 5/8 belt should be used?

Yeah I'm thinking that the belt could be too thin. And I also love that service pit, it must make working on the belts/pulleys and underside of your tractor much easier.

This Pit my Grandpa built in the Garage 40-45 Years ago, once they built the Hause and the Garage. We do'nt use them often, but now once i work on my mower, i can easily work under it, without flipping it.

IDK, Those Belts were stock on, and they sell the same size ones as the specific belts for this model.

I also love the Pit. Maybe the belt is a bit worn. And on the Picture i drawed, i drawed it extreme, to see the problems. In real were there not so much of gap.

That pit is awesome, is that like a tornado shelter or something? My grandparents in OKC have something like that.

No. THey made this Pit for working under your car. But i use it for my mower.

Mower Deck

Well, my 1st time using the Spray Gun attempts are'nt the prettiest, but it's only the mower deck, so nobody cares.

I decided against a 3rd coar of Paint. I brush painted the last parts, and put the non-assembled deck under the mower, to take a look, if i will get some Problems with the bigger rear tires or my MST

The Discharge chute deflector is missing. But i found the one from my dads Murray, and he never used it, so he said, i can use it for my applications



But the Murray Deck Discharge chute is different, so i need to modify the deflector.





Very close to the rear tire, but the only Way how it will fit. (only mockup.)



Need to put it together, and install it in the next days, because i want to mow!

It's certainly unique to be mowing with your ATLT, but I think it's kinda cool. Makes it an all-purpose machine. Have you thought about making the deck to release quickly if you want to remove it for mudding/off-roading.

The Deck you can remove in 10-15 mins, and put it back on in the same time, so i think it is good enough to me.

More work on the deck

I reassembled the Mower Deck completely with all the spindles, and the stuff.





looks now like it came fresh from the factory

And then i put it on the Mower, and did a first small test mow, and mowed some trails through the garden.







The Murray discharge chute fits good





Now i still have the Problem, the FNR rear axle were'nt as wide as the MST, so the rear tires are coming too far out, so the chute for the bagger wo'nt fit.

Have you thought about making a brace for that exhaust, it could be putting stress on the engine block.

If your MST is like mine, there will be spacers between the casing of the trans and the rim. You could put those on the outside of the rim, between the rim and e-clip. That would move the wheels further in towards the casing and perhaps allow you to fit the bagger. You could also modify the bagger chute, but it would probably be easier to move the wheels inward.

I have a brace from the dashboard to the glasspack

Had the same Idea, but to fit this, i need to cut the Keyway further and i hate to put the angle grinder on a fresh rebuilt MST

Real Offroad Romp
I went on a Offroad Romp, to test, how well he does. It made a lot of fun, but i feeled, the MTD is'nt made for hard Offroad terrain. Therefore next Years Project waits in the Garage, and collects dust until i have Time for it

You could reinforce the frame with tube steel or rod steel . Makes the frame more rigid and handles off roaring much better.

Yeah new tyres would be a good idea. Your mower looks like it would be fun whizzing through woods @20mph, not hardcore mudding/rock crawling.

Looking good. On mine, with all the torque from all the gearing, I can just feel the frame twisting and flexing. And that's with just cutting the grass. I'll probably have to check the frame every season for cracks. I don't feel like tearing it all apart just yet to reinforce the frame. I'll wait till it starts cracking before I do that.

Is that a pond in the last pic? That's pretty cool spot with the rocks. Nice exhaust pipe!

Wish i could do it, but there is no space, because i need all the deck mounts and that stuff, so there is no space

IF i have belt slippage with tirfs, i do'nt need to burn a belt in 1 week with the AGs

Right now I use it more on the road for pulling my trailer with stuff to the local market in our village to buy beer and all that kinds of stuff. On road it drives like a dream

RIght now i have no problems with cracks. will tear the MTD apart soon to repaint it

Thanks. that's a small creek and the bridge is not wide enough for my mower, so i romped through the creek.

I think the vari drive belts are bigger than 5/8" but smaller the 7/8" . They are unique belts and that might be why tour having so much belt slippage. Could also spray some belt conditioner to make them more sticky and last longer with better grip. I used some spray adhesive once to go deep water mudding and it worked well bit I think the chemicals degraded the belt material eventually.

nice Trick. RIght now i can live with that slip because if i drive slow i have no problems uphill. Maybe i make a tentioner in a month or so

Is the belt slippage on the engine belt or the trans belt? and you fixing the engine pulley help? To make sure you have the right belts, you measure the outside part of the belt to be 5/8.

on the small engine pulley. Problem is, that the belt has'nt enough tention on it, so it slips under load in a fast gear. Soon i will take it apart, and repaint it. Once i'm done with, maybe i install a tentioner with a idler pulley. Have now some freebie push mowers, there i can rob some springs from the lifting mechanism.
