| I am looking to replace my hydro trans-axle with a manual one. I have a craftsman lt1000. Does any one know where i could get the manual trans-axle for it. Or if any one know of a manual trans axle that willfit the lt1000 and it has to have the shifter on the right rear fender. I dont want to spend hundreds of dollars either. | |

or you can even find the same transaxle on another brand mower because craftsman does not make there one transaxle. mine is a tecumseh

| Seems like there are 2 major types or brands of transaxle, the tecumseh/peerless or the spicer. Either one has different models but they are similar, different number of gears. Check out www.surpluscenter.com in the power transmission section. They sell a few different kinds and have specs and pics which may be useful. | |

| Cheeper alternative might be around the corner- look around for a similar model tractor with like a bad motor - most tractors ive gotten were under $50 .
If modding the tractor- it also makes sense to dump the old gear oil/grease and prep it for severe duty- ive broken one when i left the old grease in it.

| My grandma has some old lawn mower that the engins dont work. I will see if they have any working trans-axles. Also i found a lawn tractor on craigslist with a broken motor. So i might be able to find a trans-axle. | |
