Bow Tie Mud Guy : DIXON BUILD [2018 Build-Off Entry]

bow tie mud guy here and this is my entry for the 2018 build off !!
1970 sears with the 633a high and low trans , Honda gx 340 11 hp engine , craftsman LT 1000 hood and rear fenders - the build plan goes like this !! im naming this build DIXON it will become a zombie assault rig ( theme build ) it will get the 11 hp honda , extended up front , bigger tires up front , a complete cab with wire mesh wrapped all around with weapons ports to fight off predators from the drivers seat !! the LT 1000 hood and fenders will be custom fit to the sears chassis , small pulley swap , enclosed back rack with weapons storage - sledge hammer , base ball bat , bow or what ever kind you may have , led lights all around , car alternator , front bumper will be a cross between a cow catcher and bull bar with winch mount , custom paint work !! all around just a fun build we can take to events around town and show off !!

Somewhere in my Scorpion thread, someone commented on weaponry, It's allowed since it's not covered in the rules, LOL. I think. Or it could have been mentioned to me somewhere else. But that is what was told to me during my build, LOL. Would be a worth to ask though. I could be wrong.

Glad to see you here and can not wait to see the LT Hood mod. Body work is one thing I tend to avoid but this year I hope to change that a bit.

As long as you arent doing drive-bys I dont see anything wrong with making shooting ports. Maybe leave the real guns out of the glamour shots though, a cheap airsoft prop may be a good investment.

just to let every one know i WILL NOT HAVE ANY REAL GUNS !! if i use any kind of gun it will be a toy gun or air soft , but there will be sledge hammers , base ball bats and stuff like that just no real guns !!

LOL, you'll do great. Any barbed wire in there with the wire mesh? This mower when complete as described will be super cool. It's awesome you are already planning post build-off with the machine. There is a "zombie response team" that drives around OKC area. If I can find some pix of their truck, I'll post them, see if it gives anymore inspiration. Although it does not seem like you are short any.

What kind of tires are those?

DIXON BUILD UPDATE #1
well today i mounted the GX340 , had to build a engine plate , got the clutch and idler pulleys done , got the LT1000 hood and rear fenders mounted , had to take the air box of the engine for clearance also had to cut out the head light mount out for clearance but was able to retain the lens . had to cut the rear fenders for tire clearance no big deal looks better that way also started the back rack for the cage to mount to , i was dying to drive it so i pushed it out of the shop , fired it up jumped in the seat with a big smile and put it in reverse to find out it is bad !! 3rd , reverse and 2nd are all bad !! so only first gear , at least it moves LOL , i have already found a 633a for it and picking it up this week end !! just a small set back but i guess thats what happens when you get a rig that was not running when you get it !! NO BIG DEAL IT WILL GET HER NEW LEGS NEXT WEEK !!

You're doing a good job turning that sears into something that is heavily modified and unique.

It is unique. Mating a newer with the old to create something new! Very nice.

ok guys i have had to make some changes to DIXON !! this is me asking all of you to let me know if i can continue with this build with the changes i have had to make !!
the 1970 sears chassis was broke in 2 spots and had been hacked up front where the steering should have been,  i also found out the trans did not have reverse or 3rd gear , i did score a newer 633a high/low trans and when i went to put it in the mounts were to wide for the sears frame !! i had a GT 3000 sitting in the yard that was a hydro and had a bad 23 v-twin kohler ,  so i did a swap of the new trans and the honda gx340 over to the GT , i had to build a new double pulley clutch , trans mounts , i did extend the front axle to the front of the frame and at this point the tractor runs and drives !! i have put the pics of what i have done and in the pics you will also see a 17.5 tech. single that was mounted just to test fire but the rest is of the trans swap and motor . please let me know if i can continue with the new frame !! THE BUILD IF ALLOWED WILL BE THE SAME BUT WITH A NEW FRAME  

Well , not sure how the admins will like a complete mower body/frame swap, I personally predict it will get disqualified due to it was not in the first pic but should be easy enough to re enter it. Not sure what doug will say. Good luck tho

[mod]I don't see any issue with that.  It is up to Admin's discretion, but I do not see a scratch the frame and start over on a new one rule.  Frame rules:

4) No automobile, truck, SUV, etc. chassis allowed. No ATV chassis, or "Compact Tractor" chassis from larger homestead+ tractors allowed. Passable examples are: Lawn tractor, yard tractor, garden tractor and mini chassis’, stock or modified. Custom-built chassis are allowed provided the end result will be resemblant of a lawn or garden tractor chassis in appearance. Specifically, ladder, tunnel, or pan-style. No space frames, or frames made primarily from tubing that are resemblant to go karts, rock crawlers/ bouncers, etc.

Nothing in there about ditching original frame and starting over.[/mod]

ok guys now that it has been approved im happy , i never stop building no matter what , this rig would have been built no matter what but now she has a reason to be built !! i got the new front tires , and some real nice used tires for the rear , got the double pulley clutch finished and working great , yesterday was nice enough that i got the chance to get some paint work done !! this paint is only part of the paint job the rest will come latter on , still need to build the cab and front bumper , mount the gas pedal and hook up the breaks , im working on finding a one wire hook up alternator so i can run lights because the honda does not have the charging system , i still have some touches to add to it as for switch panel and some other stuff no one has seen yet but in the end it will be bad a$$ with a removable cab by undoing 6 bolts , this is one build that will test me because i have never built a cab by hand before !!
