1970s Sears ST10 aka Mach One

Topic 1970s Sears ST10

So here’s the back story when I was around 9-10 years old I wanted to start tinkering on things and I noticed an old rusty tractor setting in my grandmas neighbors yard. At the time I didn’t know modifying tractors was a thing I just wanted to tinker with it so I asked my mom and dad to get it and they said  no  (we lived in town And didn’t have the space at the time) so it continued to set unused. Fast forward 4 years I’m 14 now and the owner passes away I know about tractors and have been looking for a Sears by this point. So I leave a note on the door asking if I can haul it away the relatives of the passed man called and said come get it it’s junk as far as we are concerned. So me and Dad went to get it and it was sunk into the yard I checked to see if it would shift it did so we loaded it up and left. Shortly after I began building it into a mud mower now named “Trashy”




Now let’s get to the work done to it. Keep in mind it’s not done nor will ever be 100%done


Here’s a list of what’s been done

•removed old engine and wiring then ground off the old paint

• sprayed the whole tractor in primer then painted it AC orange and gloss black


•installed a predator 6.5HP 212cc engine

• fixed the nose cone and mounted the hood and grill


•customs belt guard on engine

•replaces clutch springs and the clutch pulley.

• added stickers and 26-11-12 good year rawhides ATV tires on the back and 19-7-8 Chinese ATV tires up front


•removed the transaxle and had a good friend  weld it posi


•reinstalled transaxle

•then I romped it lol

So, that before picture looks just like the one I have, right down to the primer colored seat.

She's begging for better tires man.

What engine was in it before? Tecumseh?

It originally had a Tecumseh HH100 that didn’t run. I sold it to a hood home

And as for tires did you see all the pics ? It has 26-11-12 good year rawhides on the back that do very well. Not wanting mud tires at the moment because I run various terrains but at some point I do plan to get mud tires for the occasional all mud rides

Lol to everybody readin this, he pretty much runs what tires he gets for cheap. I honestly think he hasn't put more than $200 into this build.

WRONG. I spent a lot more than 200$ on it. And I could have bought better tires but these do fine and I actually buy other things besides tractor parts.

Okay so let’s see here


128$ for the engine

130$ on transaxle oil,paint,primer and cosmetics

50$ for the tractor I bought in order to get the front tires

60$ in belts


20$ in the engine pulley

10$ for clutch pulley

5$ for clutch springs

13$ for steering wheel cover


25$ for the rear tires and rims

20$ for parts to repair nose cone

10$ for metal I bought to make mounts

50$ to have someone the weld the transaxle (my welder is trash and I’m new to welding)

No it’s not as much as others spend no im not bragging but how about you don’t call me out on the price when your to cheap to buy a pulley so you spend all night making one

$60 in belts! Holy crap! They got precious metals in em?

I like this machine a lot!!!! paint job looks very good ( but its a sears , not an allis ) lol still is really a nice look on good tractor

Thanks for the compliments guys. And the reason it was 60$ for belts is because I messed up on size a couple times and did readjustments so I went through 3 20$ belts lol

Thatlle do it.
I had to try 3 or 4 different belts on my st10 before I got the right size.
