Id probably put the mud lights back on it and ding some lighter tread tires for the snapper. That's the cheaper option.

Here's the beauty that's going in this rig. The gears are in good shape, a little dirty and mabye one small rust pit I could see but other than that it needs a good cleaning and a doc locker and it will be ready to rock ! Lol . The mud lures are going back on it off of the snapper. I am not going to run big mudding tires to hopefully make the tranny last for the rest of this mowers long life.Build -Off - 1993 Craftsman LT4000 heavy mud build. - Page 8 20180455

I'd get it cleaned up the best you can and do a good thorough inspection, then convert it to oil filled.  I like what I see so far!

So wpuld welding the spiders the way fearless front uses be ok for this thing? I mean that diff is super heavy duty. But doc locking it is more expensive but gives me some more width and the ability to put on axle supports.

Doc lock is worth it IMO. Just collect all the scrap frames and other steel you got and take a load in. Should be a couple hundred worth with all the stuff you got lol.

Only thing I need to replace is the input bearings. They were stiff and one wasn't turning. It's cleaner now lol , but not as clean as I like it. The drive gears and revearsegears +chain need some rust removal and the shifter is a bit crusty but not bad. Could be alot worse lol.Build -Off - 1993 Craftsman LT4000 heavy mud build. - Page 8 20180460

Just put that washer in your pocket for safe keeping.  Haven't you ever heard of pocket screws? Build -Off - 1993 Craftsman LT4000 heavy mud build. - Page 8 1098998679

With you reputation I would give some serious thought to replacing or removing the reverse chain.

The chain is almost brand new, it's out of the 930 , the o e I this case was way to rusted to use. I found where the washer went , it's all good now lol. If anybody has a spare set of the input bearings I could use them !!! Now all I need to do Is get a drill bit set and a solid axle for it after I replace the bearings . It's all together but not bolted up to just keep the gears clean as I sprayed it down with wd40 to get the water out of it and prevent rust till I lock it. Do you guys think a step down drill bit wpuld work for enlarging the diff carrier holes?

anybody know the part numbers for the little needle bearing thats under the ball bearing on the input shaft hole?
the temptation of putting it all back together and running it unlocked is very great. but now since i sold the engine( it runs really well and i put tons of work into getting it running and putting it on, now the guy says its leaking some oil from the crank gasket. yay.) i need to order a live axle and find out about boreing out the diff carrier. i am considering welding some 3/4 inch plate to the axle shaft instead of using a hub with welding keys to it and having the weak point of the keyway in the axle. basically a doc locker version one on an 820. what do yall think about that?

Sounds like a stronger way to do the locker. I had a go kart axle where the sprocket hub was welded to the axle. It wasn’t going anywhere.

Well I ordered a bearing for the bottom, and I have a top bearing in the cart with a 36 inch axle. The little needle bearing wasn't the exact part number as it was foreign but it is the correct size in every spec. The top bearing I am ordering is a 6203 RS 3/4" . It's also slightly different numbers than the 6203 RS that's the original bearing but the specs are also right on the dot. The parts came out to 35 bucks and the shipping is 20. So yeah .

Mild steel. The chromoly ones are super exspensive. I could get an aluminum one but I can't weld on that lol

Well. Since the parents aren't letting me order the axle until school is over it's not going to go together for a couple weeks if not months. Unless I pull the axle out of the snapper and use it!!! Ha! Lol I still need to drillbout the bores but I did take it all apart last night .

Well since I only got the bottom bearing ordered I thought I would look at the ball bearing and found that it was just a bit rusty and games up from sitting still. So I soaked it in gas and cleaned it with a brussh and soaked it in oil then cleaned it again . Good as new! (Almost) packed it with grease and cleaned up the seals . Should get the other bearing in the mail today. Build -Off - 1993 Craftsman LT4000 heavy mud build. - Page 8 20180480
