| Fellas, was wonder if one can purchase ATV tires for a standard riding mower rim? I want my wheels to stand a bit taller for the speed desire, but don't really wanna buy new rims. Any recommended sites to purchase from? I know this is kind of vague and all, but I have have a Murray Wide Body, so the stock wheels for that is what I want to use some ATV tires on. Only about a year into the mower building, so be kind to this 53 year old! Thank You for making this a great community! | |

| Hey there! Assuming the rims you have are 8" diameter, the choices are a bit slim but it is possible to find ATV tires to fit 8" rims. On my MTD build I put Duro Sand and Mud tires on the rear and they where 22x11-8. They fit on my standard lawn tractor rims perfectly! There are other tires that will fit an 8" LT rim, but those are the ones I have haha. I purchased mine off of Kijiji so I'd look for some used one in decent shape if I where you. I think you can buy those Duros brand new, but they are pricey. I think you can also get knobbies for an 8" rim, because CraftsmanQuad put a pair on his rig. Ya just gotta look around a bit I guess, that's how I found mine hahaha. Good luck! | I bought mine on Walmart online and had them shipped to our local store. Just google 22x11-8 atv tires and look around for something you like that is cheap. | |

| Definitely can be done. I put 22x11x8 on the standard rim on my Murray. Many places to get from. Don't count out other places like Ebay and craigslist too. I got that set off craigslist for $40. Good Luck!

| Reviving a couple month old thread. I have the same question but for a bigger wheel! I'm not sure what size the rims are since they're bigger than a lawn mower tractor. | |

| I have the same transaxle and rims as you. Your tire size is probably 23x8.50-12. The first number means your tire height(not exactly, theyre usually smaller than rated). Second number is the sidewalls width(again, not exactly. depends on rims width usually) The last number is the rim size. Since you have 23x8.50-12, that means you can run about every tire size that ends in 12. I had 23x8.50-12, I now have 26x10-12. I wouldn't go any bigger than 26x12-12, these 820s can only take so much(I have proven that, lol). Plus with the rims being a bit narrow for those tires, makes them a bit of a pain to mount them. Tire will always push against the rim, making it a pain to set the rim guards evenly. Although after a few times mounting/dismounting them it gets a lot easier. | |
