Still burnin sheetmetal tryin to get some green paint on it so I can put it on tomorrow.Hood is done. Now I need to finish the other fender.

Holy crap what a long day. went in an hour early to work. 9 Hours there, then 11 here. I called it quits when the welder jammed up at 3 am and back at it at 8. The paint is almost dry and ready for final assembly. I hope the belt drive works good on the first try. I need a nap.

I gotta wave the white flag. I hit it too hard yesterday and I cant finish this in time. It does start/ run and kinda drive. All the body work is done but needs to be bolted back on. I would like to post a video of it running and jack the pipes just to show how good it sounds, but my back is too screwed up to even get in the thing. I had 1 belt roll on the engine pulley and screwed it up. I fixed that and now I have a flat idler that is chewing up the belt. All the up and down, back and forth to get tools and parts has killed my back. Both legs are numb and every time I try to stand up, it feels like getting stabbed in the lower back with a BBQ fork.

I think it might qualify as is if you just bolt the sheet metal on. It runs and drives. Granted it doesn’t run and drive perfectly but you’ve come SO far! I’d hate to see you give up now

If you bolt that metal on and take pics as it fully assembled itll pass.

i didnt feel like putting it back on just for some "glamour shots", so I tapped out. Just because the "build off" is over doesnt meant I cant finish it. I dont think Doug is going to sneak into my shop tonight and take it. It will be here tomorrow.. and next week.. and next month. It wasnt worth the pain of doing a rush job to finish it for a $5 trophy and some tools I dont need. My intent was to prove that you can go fast without putting gokart parts on a gt/lt. If some guy comes in with a winner 5 years from now with this concept, I have done my job. I will be back next year with a less complicated design and more help.... or I may put gokart parts on this one, you never can tell??? Dont feel bad for me. I tapped out, grabbed a 6 pack and had some "quality time" in the hot tub. No sense in killing myself for an unacheiveable goal. It gets dark here at 5pm. No chance of getting a good operational video after that. You gotta know when to hold'em and know when to fold'em

Thanks Doug, but I cant do that tonight before the deadline. Prior pics prove what it looks like and there is no way to prove if it was really bolted up or not.It is not complete and I tapped out. This isnt the first time I have lost an internet beauty contest. I can deal with it

Sucks about your back problems. We would definitely like to see it finished. Take your time bud.

Here is a short video of what it sounds like. The stuff that looks like bugs flying by is a $25 belt getting chewed up. (It sounds better on a PC with a sub)

When you feel better, maybe take some pics of the vari drive setup. Would like to see how you set it up.

Ah, good ol' oppy sound. Mmmm. Cameras can never truly catch the growl of them, it's a shame.

I think I finally have all the muscle and pain problems worked out. I might get in some shop time this weekend. Need to change an idler bracket and double up a few springs. After that I will probably have to replace the belts with a different length, but I aint going close to any place with a cash register for atleast 10 days. The traffic is already starting to get stupid around here and it is only noon on thursday
