I vote side pipes.

Side pipes work with the bucket. I have to do zoomies with the JD. Foot boards get in the way.

I am kinda tinkling about doing a gloss black and doing a "Bonnie and Clyde" thing on it since I have 2 holes in it already. It wont look right if I patch them.

I thought about shiny rust to blend in. I can still speed rust it, but right now I am leaning toward the Bonnie and Clyde thing. Front rails will be done to match

Got a full day in on the slingshot. Only scratched 2 things off the list. I got a lot done, but most of it wasnt on the list. Worked on the other frankenfender. It isnt ready to bolt up yet, but it is close. Need to get a sheet of 20ga, the 16 ga hood is going to weigh a ton. Blew out the check valve in the porta power trying to knockout some holes in the dash. I should be slinging green paint next weekend. Ready to strip it and filp it so I can work on the belt drive and pedal stuff. I shot a fresh coat of chrome on the headers and zoomies.

After 12 hours of maple and apple lovin, it is time to wrapem and stackem. Coastin into 205 over night in the electric smoker.

Didn't get much done this week. Got stuck working 14 hour days all week. I hope I can get the belt drive stuff done this weekend. The paint may end up being a rush job on the 29th

Having one hell of a time trying to find a tapered bore pulley to fit the TX. I cant even get a new one from sears to hack the hub out of. They dont list a part# for them.

I made an input pulley that should work. Just ordered $60 worth of heim joints and all thread for the clutch/ brake/ cvt pedal. I have a good plan for what needs to be where. I should have all the parts by this weekend. I hope my back can hold up to all the crawlin around on the floor and all the up and down crap. I got alot of work to do this weekend and I expect to get it done.

I still have ALOT to fit in there. Double idler clutch, 3 springs, 3 linkages and 7 levers. Then I gotta make sure the belt guides fit around all of that. Tucked in behind the MCVT is where the throttle linkage is, so I gotta fit some kind of bracket and spring in there too.

That's cool, just realized you got a vari drive and a gearbox on there.

yep that is the combo that makes this build so badass. You wont have to dump the clutch to pull the front wheels. Every thing is already engaged, all you have to do is let the clutch out a little further and gas it. Not sure I did the math right, but it should come off the line good and hit 60 without shifting gears. I will be happy if the top end comes out somewhere 50. With the 633, it will also make a good puller (if I can get anyone to let me squeeze into a 900# stock twin class)

It is starting to get crowded in here. I have 1 more linkage to build, then try to get the right belt combo. I am 1 day ahead of schedule for this weekend ( but 2 months behind where I thought I would be by now). I might actually be able to fire this thing up this weekend. Other than trying to figure out the belt guards, most of the thinkin part is done. The only thing left is hammerin and weldin steel and slingin some paint.

Looks good. I hope that varidrive setup goes easy for you, it rarely even works for me in stock form

I was gifted 2 distractions today..and discovered a big oops in the engineering on the SS. First is a potential electric smoker/ meat cooler.


2nd is a 2155 CC. Runs and drives, needs battery.



The oops was fabbing the clutch for the wrong belt direction. Easy fix and it works better that way too boot. I will post a black camo pic of the proprietary drive train later.

The bedliner went on last night. All the belt system got pulled and painted. Tranny got flushed, painted and fixed the shift gate that wouldnt let it go in reverse. 90% of the wiring is completed. I hope to have everything bolted back up tonight. The rest of the week looks like this.. 11/27 test run and debug. 11/28 hammer the rest of the sheet metal and paint. 11/29 get some live action and edit. 11/30 hope everything came in on schedule and submit video and relax... or take the day off from work and thrash on this thing and hope I get done.

Todays update.... all the underside drive stuff is back on. I have a real annoying brake squeal, so I need to add a spring to that. Motor is ready to bolt down, but I still need to get a part to hook the throttle cable up, then it will be ready to fire up and adjust the clutch/ brake linkages. Since I am already a day behind the schedule I made up yesterday, I am taking Thursday off to make sure I get this thing finished on time.

It starts and runs now. Working on some belt guide issues. The dadgum tach doesnt work on the Chinese speedo. The wires dont match the print. Gonna have to tear back into the wiring to get it to work (low priority). 1 frankenfender is painted and ready to go. Gonna try to hammer out the other one and the hood on Wednesday. It doesnt move yet but it sounds meaner than my wife.
