Mah buddy and i each have a mudding/general use mower build...technically he has a mudding and a utility, mine is an all in one. then we both got rat rod/speed builds to do. There's quite a few people in my area who build these things. we could take the nearest town with mowers! im calling it now, its happening. the great mower crusade
there are so many rednecks in my area and i aint even from the south...

Yea....mah buddy and i have more mowers than we know what to do with. it went from him finding all sorts of buildable mowers and me able to find nothing but hydrostats. then it went to both of us having mowers falling out our ears. My dad is already mad at me because i have parts scattered all over our shed
There are quite a few people in my area who build these things. im calling it now, we are taking the next town over. Its gonna be the first chapter of the mower crusades. Led by the rednecks.
funny how many rednecks are in my area, and i aint even down south...

I hear ya about the "mower crusade" thing though, I'm trying to get my brother and cousin into the world of mower modding. It can be boring romping by yourself sometimes.

Haha yeah, as far as I know, nobody around here modifies mowers. There aren't really that many around. A good working mower with a few scratches could be at least 400-500 pounds.

Ohhh goodness there are so many upsides to living in the country...but your internet connection is not one of them

Alright! now that the ranch king is "done" (they are never really done) and i have a free weekend, it is time to begin some actual work on the dynamark. This weekend i will be hitting the dynamark hard. Revised plans include but are not limited to: dual bellcrank steering (CraftsmanQuad19 has an idea in his head of how its gonna work) yank the 8hp out, set it aside for later tinkering yank the trasmission Friday night, soak it in panther piss. probably pop the case apart and let it soak overnight so that Saturday morning i can head out and have it nice and soaked so its much easier to free up ditch the rear axle and the seized pillow blocks it has on it, swap it for a 32 inch wide gokart 3/4 inch axle with 4 lug hubs (will be putting golf cart tires on it lower the fenders move the battery forward gas tank under the seat (the gas tank i am using is about 4 or 5 inches tall and about 10 inches long. it is off of an old sears suburban. with a little modification to the battery box that is presently there, the gas tank should be able to get worked right down in there. i will be putting an 18hp opposed twin on it. instead of pointing out the sides, i will turn the engine sideways so one head is facing the rear of the tractor and one head facing the front. i will be building a two into one exhaust system, with the pipes running alonside the frame, under the floorboard, where i will put a glasspack muffler on it. CraftsmanQuad19 will be dealing with the steering. we will use tube steel and gokart spindles/mounts for a custom front axle clearcoating will be later use some chain laying around, or use the chain that is already there for pulleys, i am planning on a 5 inch pulley on the front and the stock on the transaxle, then the gokart axle has a 35 tooth sprocket on it, and i will be putting a 15 tooth sprocket on the transmission. eventually i may put a smaller pulley on the transaxle Overall when this thing is all complete, it will sit anywhere between 2 and 4 inches off the ground. i will be making skid plates for the bottom so that i dont drag anywhere. I do not yet know what tires will be going on it. but i will probably put some narrow gokart tires on the front. probably 5, 6 or 7 inches. i do not know what size on the back it will have a bumper on it. do not yet know what i will be doing for that. since the hood does not open close, there will be no pull start on the engine. i will rely on the electric start. so, i am moving the battery forward to keep the electrical as centralized as possible. it will have headlights and taillights for riding in dusk/ early morning. I have a set of round seal beam headlights to put in it where the old ones no longer exist. there will be a toggle swith for lights, a toggle switch to kill spark, and a pushbutton start. probably a foot throttle too. For now, governor on the engine will remain intact, since i do not need ridiculous rpms for the gearing i am doing on this.
That is for now, i am sure i missed something important that needs done. If there is, or any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Alrighty guys, I hope your day in the shop was as great as ours! We got everything totally stripped, front axle done, transmission torn down and cleaned, and the original 8 horse engine freed up.
The transmission was nasty inside. Water, rust chunks, and grease all mixed together. The input shaft on the bottom was froze up, as well as the reverse chain. It's still sitting in pieces, but its salvageable.
The original 8 horse briggs will be swapped in favor of an 18 horse opposed briggs. But we worked on it a little anyway. It has an aluminum bore, and decent crosshatching under the corrosion. the only thing thats still froze up is the exhaust lifter because that valve was open and exposed to the elements while it was sitting.
The electrical system came out, original fuel tank, steering, transmission, engine, clutch, and rear axle all followed. I think the only things going back in are the transmission and pieces of the electrical system.
The tires that are on it now are from an old homemade gokart that was sawed in half (there is a story with that but thats for another time), as well as the front spindles that were mounted inside our homemade axle extension/caster blocks, and man they really follow the rat rod look.
Pictures aren't seeming to load so Ethan, can you try to post those pics I sent you of the finished product
Video coming soon!

As far as i can see, about 40mph is probably as fast as im going to go. Going fast is fun, until you make a mistake, then you are dead. there are too many rough roads and potholes around to go any faster than that. this will be a strictly gravel road or field machine. the paved roads are awful. I love living in the country...but the internet and roads are not an upside
AllisKidD21- yes, it is a shame. ive already gotten yelled at by my neighbors
