The plug was caked with black before.

Hoping to get the brakes working, then get the deck mounted.

I'd put a diesel in it, lock the diff and put some executioners on it, then plow, mud, and clear land with it.

I wouldn't diesel that one. It's a descendant of the "Custom" line not the heavier Suburban line. (Less room under the hood for it) I'm guessing a Tecumseh in it. Good solid engine until it dies. It may run forever. If a repower is needed, predators do well in them.

The deck is still in good shape, and it even has a matching plow. Ittle make a good mower till the deck rots out.

Its 3/4 suburban. The front frame is different, but everything behind it is the same as a Suburban. It must be older than my 70s suburban, the frame looks the same, but its closer to 1/4 on the st10, and 3/16 on the suburban. They cheaped out!

Its the same as my 69 Suburban however.

Looks to be a '73 there BEAL. I'm guessing a 917.25720 ish model number.

Im trying to find a parts diagram to see what I need to hook up the brakes. Im wondering if the brake linkages are different between the ST10, and the 69 Suburban. It looks like I may have to do some jerry rigging.

The ST10 has the transaxle out of the 69. The ST10 transaxle has a bad axle seal and was leaking oil. Previous owner started the swap.

So, on another note. Got a broken off bolt? This method works good if its broken off above the surface.

1/4-20 bolt. Thin washer just needs a couple hot tack otherwise it will burn up.


A sacrifice is required. I chose a nylon lock nut. After a couple tacks the nylon is all burnt out. Dont breathe it in.


Tacking it on all sides, leaving enough to get a wrench on. Whack it with a hammer, spray some penetrating oil on em.


Seems to work.

Nice job on the extraction beal. What they did at the shop that put a new manifold in my truck was weld a bunch of hot tacks on top of the broken off stud to make a booger which they grabbed with vise grips.

And the heat from the welds help break the rust.

On the two case bolts that broke off in Mutt's second 820, I welded a nut to them, kept them hot with a torch, and then doused the whole operation with cold water. They turned right out then.

Heating and cooling does wonders for getting rusted things loosened.

So back on the ST10... brake works!


Now I dont have to use... trees and parked cars to stop!

Can i have your tires? I need them for my ST that I use in the garden.

I need to get a broken bolt out of my new mowers case. Only it's all the way inside of the housing and I burned it up trying to weld a head on.

Took it for a spin yesterday, was going well till one came off the bead in a bit of a mud puddle. Wheel spinning in the tire... yup. Stuck. Puller err out with the Jeep and puttered back. Im surprised I was able to go up the hill.

Makes for putting on wheels so much easier.
Used 2in long, 7/16 grade 5 coarse thread bolts. Got enough to do my other sears aswell.

I tried my still press, the bolt that snapped was one of the bolts that holds it to the frame so I has to reverse the base and hang the drill press head over the vice and tries to drill it out but my bit went off center and wouldn't go straight so it screwed it up worse

Yeah, them ags... they jenk! Its too bad though, I think they would be a good size for some fronts... good steering tires.


So I started breaking em down... maybe Ill fill the tires with dirt and put some flowers in em.


Went pretty well. I was thinking it being cold out it woudl be a pain. It was... Dare I say... easier?  


Broke down some extra turfs too. These wheel might be for another project.



Gona put some air to the tubes, if I have any good ones they will go in the atv tires I have mounted up on some other wheels since they like to leak.

So I learned something... bolt through back of the hub, great idea... but whats better would be some studs.
Thought maybe I could sneak the locking bolts past the bolt heads. Could probably force them, but Ill jut shave a bit off the bolts with the lathe.

Yeah you're on your own for the tire funds, haha. Too bad you couldn't get splined studs in there like an automotive setup, that'd be pretty handy.
