Thanks, so far the grill and hood look ok as of this morning. I bolted them back together and bolted on the luggage rack.

jenk. Looks too good, isn't qualified for the build-off. your machine must be sent to me for an inspection to be sure its meeting all of the guidelines, and then it will be added to my collection.

Pic from a couple days back. Hood and grill assembled with luggage rack installed. Found some mini bungee cords and stored them between the hook areas on the rack. Decided to not bother filling the spot in the hood I patched with body filler. The hood flexes a lot when you take it on and off, probably crack body filler anyway. Right now the front axle is removed and painted, all dash switches are installed with a voltage gauge. Most of the small brackets and small parts are painted. Front wheels both painted black. The two bolts sticking through near the back of the hood is from the dash light under the hood. More pics soon!

Someone should just prime this and start testing and tuning!!

I can't just do this stuff any time I want. I needed an open space for the entire frame for a day or so. That's why I only worked on smaller parts so far, since I could take those out side. As of right now the frame is primed and in about 10 minutes from now the orange top coat is going on the frame. It's a heck of a mess here right now. Small parts are everywhere, some primed, some need to be cleaned up. Gonna start reassembly tomorrow I hope. Not going to be any time for testing other than a run here in the driveway to make sure the clutch works and get things as close to being adjusted as I can. Still a lot to do before haspin. Even after the paint is done, there's still some letter work to do and stickers to install.

First had the frame up on end and sprayed the bottom black. Most of it anyway. Then I set it down flat and primed the whole frame. Everything here except the steering wheel and clutch pedal is permanently attached. With the primer dry I sprayed the orange but I left the bumpers, rub rails, and hand brake lever. These will get brush painted black.


There are some runs and also a couple thin spots, but it's close enough. It's all simplicity now.

Transmission, battery, jack shaft, alternator, fuel pump, front axle, and engine all installed. Bumpers and rub rails painted.


Gas tank bolted in. Brakes done both sides.


Hood and seat just set in place to see how it looks. Couple things like the exhaust are done and ready to go on, but I stopped here for today. A lot of time was spent just getting the correct bolts. I had half the stuff just mocked up with longer bolts ect.


Still a few things to do before starting on the wiring. Filled the transaxle with gear oil, just need to remember to put oil in the engine.

Thanks, I think it looks pretty good. Tonight I bolted in the lights, winch, and exhaust. Got all the belts on. I'm pretty sure the clutch is going to work out ok. I don't know about the keystone motorsports decal though.

Bravo Mr modified! That thing looks sweet as in that orange, you put me to shame lol I'm still collecting bits for mine haha. This reminds me of a project I had in high school, it was a remote control stadium truck I had built for my technology class, I finished it really early in the term, so had the rest of the term to 'test' it during class time lol. Admittedly it was on its 11th gearbox by the end but the process of thrashing it made for a better finished product in the end. Have fun on er sir

Thanks. With the weight of everything now on the frame, the springs feel about right. Before I thought they would be a little on the stiff side.

Fuel lines installed. Made a neat bolt on bracket for the fuel filter. Couple of pieces of 1/2" tube bolt to the frame under the engine shroud to run wires and tubes around the engine.


Putting oil in before I forget. Semi tough to get to the fill cap, a cut down cheap plastic funnel makes things a little easier. Bolted on the belt guide.


Most of the underside of the frame got a rough coat of gloss black. This tube is for draining the oil without making a mess. Lines up with the drain plug. Could have just put an extension on the engine, but this way any engine with stock drain plugs will fit on easy. Mostly I just did it for something different. Double nutted engine mount bolts visible. Don't want things vibrating loose at haspin.


Top side of oil drain. There was a hole there already from where I torched out the stock steering. I made the hole slightly bigger to line up with the drain plug. Cables at top of the picture are for the winch. Black cable visible with the copper end is the main positive from the alternator.


Intake brace bolted in. Throttle cable rigged up. You can see the vacuum tube on the intake that goes to the fuel pump. I pretty much copied the throttle and return spring bracket from the GTR 4 0, since that worked pretty good.  


Haspin HQ. As of this posting, the simplicity is running and driving under it's own power. Test rode it around the parking lot a little. Brakes seem to work decent enough. They have a bit of a soft feel due to belt stretch, but they stop you. Engine runs good. Clutch works pretty nice. Bit of a clutch vibration issue when it's engaged. Not exactly sure why, the pulleys seem to be lined up ok. Gearing is higher than the baja sears as it's supposed to be, but I had a hard time getting into high gear. I think you need to wind the engine out more before shifting to get them to mesh. I didn't have enough run up space to give it a good test. I think everything should work fairly good. A few issues are to be expected with something you just slapped together. Wiring should be done tomorrow.

Thanks. Finally got most of it done. Here's looking under the dash from the left side. Test wire clipped on the headlight switch. Made a high tech holder for the tail light flasher from an old radiator hose. There was already a 5/16 nut welded into one of the bars that hold the hood, so I bolted it there. Winch hooked up and works. Still about 3 or 4 connections to do, fuel tank vent line, and crank case vent line before I load it on the trailer, but I've got all the important stuff locked down at this point. No problem. Since I don't have any high tech phone or anything to move pics around or go on the internet, the ride report will probably be next week after haspin. Tomorrow will be mostly trying to find last minute stuff I forgot.
