Could we have some pictures of the engine damage? Doesn't that have one of those plastic paddle style dippers that runs off the camshaft gear? I've heard people say they can go bad but never saw one that did. What happens to them, just wear out and strips the teeth off?
I don't have a picture but the plastic thing broke off from the thing it is mounted to (what it spins on) and it jammed up in the camshaft teeth and got smashed

I fixed the shift key problem! well maybe... LOL I welded 5th gear to the shaft and took the shift keys out (I did it to a junk peerless 915, so don't worry) So now this only goes forwards, but I guess that is how most mini quads do it.

Finally an update for you guys. I've been busy working 12 hour days at a farm so not much time for updating. Has a 19 hp briggs I got for $5, its really worn out (5 lbs compression in cyl #2 and 25 in cyl #1) but it works lol. I am going to upgrade the front bumper and paint it lime green before the engd of the build-off. Pics in the next post.

The miniquad on the right. I am going to swap the bumper+ winch from the other tractor onto it (it is a bolt-on mod)
19 hp engine. its a third gen with the 4 screw carb, and since I can't adjust the mixture I have to run it with 1/2 choke on all the time.
Dual exhaust my buddy zsmachines made for his tractor many years ago that I got for free when he scrapped his mower.
I got a set of 22x12x10 tires for the rear for $40.
I am going to paint it lime green and maybe lock the differential before the end of the build-off. I want to build a rear rack too, but we will see how that goes.

That opposed is the one you got for $5? Looks pretty clean. Does it use much oil/smoke?
It uses 16 oz of oil to a gallon of gas. It makes tons of smoke, especially when it's cold. MatthewD You are correct, I was not thinking wen I said left I guess

Wow! That is alot of oil! Maybe you could try a can of restore down the cylinder, but for $5 you can't go wrong. And with regards to the choke/running lean problem, you could try and drill the main jet out or buy a slightly bigger one.
Not really a miniquad any more is it? It used to say it was a 6 Speed 42" cut, now it says 6 Speed 38" cut.

You are correct. It has become a regular quad now I guess. The frame and new sheet metal I got for $5 (so together it was a $10 tractor) The old frame had been cut out with a torch by the previous owner, and it was bending and cracking a lot. the steering box was stripping out, and this new frame has the older, stronger steering box.

I have decided to replace the motor with another twin that has a 4.5" pulley stuck on it. Mainly for more speed, but also this motor has 65 PSI in cyl #1 and 70 PSI in cyl #2. so a big upgrade there . Can't wait to take it on a romp after I get it done, I also want to widen the front end, since even with stock front tires they hit on the hood when the axle is articulated. I have two of these axles, so I should just be able to cut them 4" off the pivot and weld them together (like this -------O--]-- and welded like this ---------O----}----O---------.) The brackets are where I cut or weld and the O is the center pivot point on the axle. Should be fun. Also want to upgrade to 20" front tires

I locked the differential yesterday. I did it by welding all four spider gears together in a solid mass. I have done this to a peerless 100 axle before and my buddy could not break it even with a 10 lb hammer, and so I expect it to last a long time. By welding the gears you hold the axles together in a straight line, so it makes it harder to break the case, much like a straight axle. Today I am working on adding a fairlead to the winch.

Well the trans died right after doing a pulley swap so it did 30, so I am dropping in another before the build off so I can get a vid for you guys. I will also replace the engine after the build-off, its having running problems because of low compression.
