Truckin42's Go Kart/Tractor Build

]Hey this is my build for the 2014 build off completion.

Its gonna be a completely custom build using go kart and tractor part and hopefully make one bad all around machine.

Plans are to make a rat rod style but built for extreme offroading.

Plans,

Custom frame
Custom suspension
Custom steering
Custom drivetrain using a truck axles
Maybe 4x4 if not Custom front end
Custom rat rod body
Custom exhaust
Big motor
And I have a couple other things ill be doing but that's a sercret.

Hey guys I got some progress made.

Made a motor plate
Mounted the motor
Mounted the tranny (still needs a 4in lift to line up the pullys)

Today progress: made temporary lift block for the transaxle to level the belt with the pullys.


The wood screws are also temporary just to hold everything together.

This thing looks like a neat idea so far. Small machines with an engine that takes up half the frame always looks cool.

got a speed that your thinking of trying to hit?

camomanusa,When its all done and I get the manuel tranny in it I would like to get it up to around 40-45

I got some more progress made, I got the tranny mounted(temporary tranny) and also made 7" drop brackets and now the pullys are all lined up just need a belt and some belt tensioners.

Got some progress made today.

Started to mock up a 2 seater seat.

Mocked up the front end so its almost a rolling chassis.

And I desided to pull the v-twin of and save it for my racer project and I
went ahead and put this 5hp B&S on that I got from a push mower.. runs great.

Some of you guys might think a 5hp motor is to small but its all about gearing if its
geared right it will do just fine...I wanted this motor instead of the v-twin because for one its pull start,
it does better on gas, its easer to start, and its a flathead. And also I wont have any wiring to deal with sence its
pull start..so there will be no battery dyeing out on the trail, no wiring I will have to worry about getting wet and shorting
out..so overall this motor will be better for my tractor/go kart.

Looking like a good solid build... I like 'em solid... Thus my I beam frame... Lookin forward to seeing what you do with the drive train man

Yeah same here..Im still working one figuring that out..i just need to find a right axle gear box or a peerless style gear box.
But for now im using my k46 hydro until I can get the actual drivetrain all figured out.

Thanks, and yeah im not building it for speed so I don't need a lot of hp.

makes me want to put my old push mower engine on my racing mower until i get a bigger engine lol. Im loving the progress, keep it up!

I got some progress made on the tractor/go kart.

Iv now got a rolling chassis  
And about 1 1/2 feet of ground clearance.
Also I got a motor plate made(temporary)
And the front end is all bolted on..just need locating arms.

Hey guys, its been awhile since I posted and I just wanted to let you guys know that I
didt give up on this project..its still going and im still building.

Ill post pics soon.

Progress made:

Put a belt on.
Moved motor plate/mounts back by 2 inches.
Made a custom made fan for the hydro transmission.
And in the progress of doing the steering.
But I need some simple ideas for a steering design if anyone has any idea's?

Hey guys, its almost ready for a test ride.


Progress made,

Swapped the motor back to the v-twin.
Added on some stacks.
Custom pull start.
Got the steering almost done just need to make a steering shaft and steering wheel.
Swapped the tires, turf tires.
Also added a K&N air filter.

Im working on getting it started which ist going to well but ill get here up and going soon,
