6 SPd hi/lo horizontal transaxle brand and model?

Just got this axle for my new project that I will be posting soon and do not know what brand and model it is I found a tag but doesn't say the brand. Any help would be nice!

from what i have found, it was used in AYP/sears tractors. i think its a peerless, but i could be wrong.. there wasnt very many side input transaxles, but peerless was a major manufacturer of them

Looks identical to the one in my craftsman.  I was told mine was a peerless but never checked any farther in on that (im not a transaxle guru) One thing that I kinda know is the older suburban's had them and they look the say as my one in my newer (mid 90's ) lawn mower.  The only thing that's was different was in the hubs, old ones had a 1/4 keyway and newer ones used a spline setup (can't remember how many).  I don't know if they had different gear ratio's or when they switch the hub setups. If you need I can get my tag info tomorrow. Don't know if any of this helps.

Not 600, the are aluminum, top shaft, 3 speed.

Is it a 6 speed counting the hi and the low gears? Making it a 3 speed in low or 3 sped in high. Or is it a 6 speed in low and 6 speed in high? Making it like a 12 speed.

its a 3 low, 3 high. i have one in my dads gf's craftsman GT

How would you weld the diff on one of these

That's more or less the same as the 633's with some changes. It's just newer than the old sears 633's. Does it have the splined axles?

I tried welding one and the gears didn't seem to weld very good. I got it locked but It didn't come out perfect. You can get it to work welding it but maybe in the case of one of these you'd want to try the extra gear method or something like that.

The top shifter with the Z'ed lever can be swapped with the older style 633's. Most of the gears are a different number of teeth and thickness, so they can't be swapped. The cases may be the same. I took some pics of the differences in my build thread on page two.

@mr.modified do you still have that blue suburban and will the dash fit my mid 70s ss16, i've been considering locking the transaxle in it but i think it has the gears welded to the axles, so the moose knuckle method won't work for it, not that i can find a gear to try to do it with anyway

Unfortunately no, I stripped most of the good parts off of it and got rid of the dash. You should be able to weld it to lock it. I just didn't like how the gears took when I tried it. Didn't have the best look to them. The gears from the older trans worked nice, so I guess they must have started using some other steel later on or something is added to them.
