| May be something to do with the fuel pump? I know most of the new john deeres have the gas tanks in the back. Try just putting a shut off on it for when its not running if it isn't a carb issue. I'd check the fuel pump lines also make sure there clean and hooked up right. | |

| The carb will still limit the fuel pump. when its full the carb closes so it can't pump in. Try cleaning the carb thoroughly and make sure the float closes the needle to stop fuel going in. | |

| If you're still flooding out, get into that carb. The fuel pump is not all of a sudden pumping more than it ever did. The carb is supposed to regulate fuel flow. If it's flooding, the fuel inlet system is not working properly. This consists of the float and fuel inlet valve. When the carb gets low on fuel, the float drops opening the fuel inlet valve and lets more fuel into the fuel bowl. As the bowl fills, the float rises, forcing the fuel inlet needle into it's seat, cutting off fuel delivery so it won't flood.
The most common cause of flooding like yours, is debris on the needle or seat, causing a failure to seal when the float rises. Clean the needle and seat thoroughly but be careful not to damage them. The needle or seat could be damaged, the float might no longer float properly (hole in it, letting fuel in) or the float height may not be set correctly. | |

| Some of the newer briggs carbs the entire bottom of the carb is plastic and it separates from the rest when you remove the bowl and it has an o ring and o ring gasket between the them if one of those is bad it would cause your problem .I fixed one last year doing the same thing it was just a bad o ring .

| I swapped in a medal needle. Didn't work because it didn't slide right. So make sure it is the exact size and diameter if you do. I did find one that matched just so you know | |

| Cleaned out the carb did time and it ran good for like 3 min then started surging I don't believe that it is flooding any more but ran it around for Like 10 min and it stalled and wouldn't start again. Stalled right here New tires for the front | |

| Have you messed with the fuel pump? I'd make sure none of the hoses going to it aren't pinched and make sure is pump fuel when you turn it over. | |
