Tall and skinny front tires or short and wide?

looking for some opinions on what you guys think is better for a front tire on off road lawn mower in the mud not looking for difference in tread more like do you like tall and skinny tire or a shorter and wider tire

get some 4.80-8 trailer tires/rims and they do ok

actually think I have some of those with the hubs and spindels
was thinking skinny would cut threw in stead of pushing the mud

I like tall and skiny.

Snow blower tires are your best bet. i run some, and they work great, other than there like 2" tall

Yeah thats what i was thinkin of like the "carliel snow hogs tires"

The problem with really small fronts, is you will get caught in any washouts or other small channels. My group runs skinny, tallish tires.

I run 22x9/10 on the front of mine...

I run 16s at the tme.

running 21-7 x 10s,

stock yammy warrior fronts.

I learned back when I was offroading my Nissan, then my bronco.

Tall rules for mud.

Ive been thinking of trying to find some loose dirt tires, the 3 channel tread tires used on older tractors, to see how they would preform in mud. Im not sure if they are made in a decent LT size.

Why not tall and wide? I currently run 22.5x7.50x12 all round on but am switching to 22x12x10

Cause WRC run really tall and thin tires to get down to solid ground, tho I guess in mud/water a wide "paddle" wheel would work just as good.

A tall skinny tire can get you through on torque and momentum.

A wide short tire will require horsepower and high RPM to get over the top

Im a big believer in tall, skinny tires, they put more ground pressure down than wide tires and that makes them steer better. also in deep mud your only pushing a 4 in wide rut vs a 8 inch wide rut with wide tires.

To me if you have water use wide front tires to float your front end up and If ur in mud use the tall skinny to push through faster

 The thing about wider tires though is that they will hydroplane and lose traction. You wouldnt be able to steer.

Ya but I'm in Florida and I'm always in water and water wheelying so I don't need to steer but I agree in mud they are hard to steer

it depends on what you like. i like wide aggresive front tires because sometimes they grab better and help you steer. othertimes for mud skinny tires like to dig down and help you steer
