Ariens RM830 doesnt drive.

Hi guys,

Anybody in here worked on an Ariens RM830's drive system?
I'm converting mine to an romping/utility tractor, and I have no propulsion.

The engine on mine is 8hp B&S and runs great. I've taken off the mowing deck,
and I'm getting ready to have a look at the drive system to try and fix it.

I've never worked on such before, so I'm trying to gather as much information as possible.

Is it a hydro belt, hydro shaft or geared?

if its geared, most likely the key broke, if its hydro belt, it could be either the key broke, or the thing is burned up, or its been disengaged, they have a little lever/rod on the back that disengages the motors, could be disengaged and the lever unhooked, if its shaft drive and it aint mving but the shaft it hooked up, it could be disengaged or burned up

Used that to get the part number and even found a dealer near me that had it in stock!
It's almost twice the cost of having it shipped fra the US, but now I can hopefully get it running tonight

I know.. Sometimes the processing takes a few seconds, other times it seems to take ages..

Hey and sorry for the thread hijack.

I've got a similar tractor(Ariens rm828)
It will start, but only by recoil. I've been checking the wires and trying to troubleshoot and there is no wire going from the solenoid to starter, and I can't even find the starter.
Is it hidden by the engine block? Anyone got any pics?
