| Hello, I'm new here, my name Brent and I'm from Decatur, IL .. I've been lurking for awhile becoming acquainted with different mods, and repairs...mostly thanks to finding Fearless' videos on Youtube! (he made it look easy and fun) I picked up a Craftsman LT1000 with a rebuilt 16.5hp Briggs I/C. It has a brand new rural King battery, new starter, fresh oil, new gas lines, new selenoid an d other odds and ends. I'm not sure exactly which model it is because the sticker under the seat is worn off! I'd like to mod it a little while retaining it's ability to cut my grass. The engine turns over slowly and apparently the man that rebuilt said he thinks it's because the compression is higher. Is there any way to combat this? I know there is really no way to adjust the timing on these. Enough for now this may be too much for an intro sorry, just excited to have a rider after 20 years being without one! | |

| Another common issue with slow cranking opposed twins. The starter's bushings get dry and need greased. If you feel comfortable doing it, disassemble the starter and grease them. | |

Ripcord01 Welcome! How old are your kids? Have you already introduced them to the wonderful world of wrenching, or is this all-new territory? | |

| 17HP tecumseh/ Yard Machine. Have changed pulley's (4 in. x 4 in.) cause thats what I had. lifted 2 in. ran a better exhaust, working on intake. using premium gas. removed deck, seat, deck linkage etc. for less weight. will post pics soon. I am a minimalist (tightwad) so far 200. for tractor, 20. for new belt, .29 cents for o-ring in carb. | |
