Transaxle swap

I have a Foote 4000-5 on my Wheel Horse and it works, but is a piece of junk. I looked for another but finding one is like winning the lottery.
Would swapping in a different transaxle...say, a Peerless, be possible? If so, how hard would it be? Thanks.

I swapped a Foote 4010 out for a Peerless 900 series. I had to cut the frame & the body for the inline shifter...the Foote was an H pattern. I also had to change where the front mounts were, but other than that it was pretty straight forward.

How are the 900's? I want something that can take some abuse.

I haven't had any issues with mine yet. I have extra spiders to lock the diff, and used axle bearings from an 800 series. I used 00 grease for lube.
It's only slightly over-driven; I use it in the woods mostly... top speed is 12mph

It would be going into my mudder, so it should do fine as long as I seal her up good.
