briggs 22 hp v twin hour meter

I.m getting really bored ..can't wait to 'fix' something else.....

I noticed that the hour meter was not working, so i thought I'de start by checking the plugin........i got a 12v reading on one wire and concluded that if i had power to it, that i should get some kind of reading ......the screen is just blank........Is it wiring or just a dead gage??......I'm leaning toward..dead gage??

Does it have a ground?  Maybe clean it, but I am thinking like you.  Dead gauge.

It's warming up a little today ........I'll go check for a ground.........and see if i can get any more voltage readings when running..........
it's probably better if i don't know the hours on it........25 years old this year.......75 for me and i don't know my hours either.......guys it's hard to believe 75 is a verified old man.........

Gauge is probably dead. If I were you I’d probably switch to one of those tiny tac tachometer/hour meter deals. Mine reads the hours when engine is off and automatically switches to tachometer when the engine is on. Doesn’t even take power, just a wire around a plug wire and a ground.

I set my generator up with those gauges, when i changed it over to propane.........they work pretty good ........except that my old eyes have a hard time reading them.................

I don't think I need any on the mower........most of time it sits waiting for me to dream up soemthing esle to tear up on it......
