I think flipping mowers became a “side hustle” and everybody started doing it a couple years ago, which is fine and all, but then people started asking too much for junk lawn tractors.

In the Atlanta area you can not sell a fine cutting and riding lawn mower for more then $300.
Except for stupid questions, mine went unnoticed and unsold for $350 after a few weeks, so, I have been using it myself for the past two+ years because I was not selling it for less then $350. Mind you, I bought it not running at an auction for <$50. But, it needed a battery, carb., and some TLC, and a couple of tubes for the tires. I probably own it for less then $125 after the oil change and expensive full syn 5w-50 I used to top off the tranny, Which I might remove and drain during the off season.
I just paid $30 for a complete Murray wide body. I thought it had a F-N-R, as I was disassembling it, I saw Peerless 205 on a finned housing. I guess it is a hydro 205? Never heard of it. I think I might keep it complete if I can get it to run.
What I find annoying is a local John Deere dealer that spams Craigslist with $123 ads for new JD while making it look like he is selling older used ones. Besides the DRM issues, I would rather buy a made in India or Korea tractor then anything from this JD dealer.
I just search for "riding" and "tractors" for $300 <= and use the hide duplicates. Then look for ones with good running motors and transmission problems. I do not bother with facebook, ebay, and the like. Most of my great scores are at farm and equipment auctions.
My everyday Murray widebody that I use sometimes everyday I bought for less then $50 at auction. It was one of my better purchases.

@JB_4x4 I'm not 100% sure if Peerless actually makes hydros, most I've seen have been TuffTourque, I'd guess you have a Peerless MST205 (Manual Shift Transaxle) which would be a 5 speed and a decent trans to boot!
Not to stray too far off topic, BUT, it is a Peerless VST-205 vs. MST-205. It looks like a 205 on the gear side which takes I assume grease or oil, then the other side separated by a bead of silicon contains the hydro which takes the syn 20-50?
The reason I know this is I watched some videos. By searching for it, I came across some new units being sold by roms, a guy selling locker gears. Strange, very strange :-D
