Updates....

Built a brace with skid plate for the bottom to help in holding the trans plate.





Then, these Wheel Horses as @RichieRichOverdrive had mentioned have the tendency to crack due to stress.  In the Offroad Wheel Horse group, they recommend welding on a plate to strengthen it.  I welded on 1/4 inch plate to the rear.  I should be good there.



Clean up and paint.  I did confirm the 4 bolts still slide in and out freely, so bolting the trans should be good to go.

Strengthened the steering rod with a giverthebeans mod.

Talk about getting antsy about wanting to work on the Red Bandit.  I'm running out of things to do while waiting on oil seals.  I ordered them back on Oct 23 directly from this company.  Oct 24 a shipping label with USPS was created and waiting drop off.  It's Nov 1 and I am still waiting for a drop off.  I emailed the company and haven't heard anything.  I purchased another part a couple days ago (30th) and didn't realize it was from the same company via EBAY.  That one has shipped and has been dropped off at the USPS and is in transit already.

Go figure.

One more thing done.  I holey-pulley modded the input pulley.  I probably should have 2x the holes, but didn't really feel it.



I also found this Wheel Horse reproduction hood ornament on etsy for $13usd.  It was lot better than I expected.



Instead of painting it silver or chrome color, I went with the dark grey that I used on the dash.

I also installed a new clutch pulley and I have my 2 idlers for the creepycrawler belt mod.  That's still a ways off.

Continuing other work while I wait for oil seals for the transaxle.  I did get notification they finally left the USPS and is now in transit.  YAY.  Be happy to get that back together and installed.

I sat the body down on the frame so I can start mocking up a front bumper.  I really liked what creepycrawler did for a front bumper.  There will be some similarities.  I don't plan on a winch on this build, so the bumper will not hang that far out. I am basically making a grab point. Side plates are made of 1/4 inch plate.

What I failed to mention, I do plan in making the top bolt a pull pin so the bumper can pivot down for the hood opening. I'm either going to use the bolt, or I do have some spring latches but the hole has to be drilled out to 5/8 and I am not sure I want to do that.

Here is one for ya. Think bumper like/similar to @“creepycrawler”’s on Rusty but with a 3/8ths pull pin so it will drop/pivot down so you can open the stock hood? Work in progress. I don’t have the pipe to connect the two 1/4 plates together yet.

I did have an issue post welding.  Apparently the metal warped about 3/16th inch at the mount point an didn't fit anymore.  I was able to use my floor jack to massage it back out a bit for fitment.

I also got my brake band today.  Got 'er all epoxy'd and waiting for full curing before taking the vise grips off and the jumper clamps.



I think I am going to take a break tomorrow from the tractor and pick it back up Monday.  Hopefully I can get the transaxle reassembled monday!

More things. I forgot I had a spare 4on4 hub. Good thing. Looks like the Wheel Horse doesn’t need trimmed like Murray and Craftsman.

Scratch the fuel pump thing, looks like they make K301 fuel pumps now under $20.  Can't beat that!

Man... I was really hoping this hole was a good size for a tether kill.  It appears to be quite a bit too large.

Migtyraze u can always find 2 washer an if the tether kill switch is similar to ur keys with. U can put one on the back side and one one the front and screw the lil tap back on an it should fill the hole up.

If you're talking about the mechanical fuel pumps I'd personally pass and put the Briggs pulse pump on, the replacement mechanical ones are plastic and not terribly well build, I've had them in my hands before.

This week will hopefully seem fast and furious on the tractor.  I hope to have the transaxle back in by tomorrow, "maybe today" as my seals come in today.  My neighbor wasn't home it seemed this past week so I didn't get that wheel hub removed, so reinstall will be a tad tricky.

Got the transaxle back together! Reinstalled too! Got the body and steering rod back in and steering wheel installed as well.

I just realized, I appear to be missing a parking brake.

So, after chasing my tail all day, I think I have figured out my issue. I have an older transmission in my tractor than it is suppose to have.

It would appear that I have the 6 speed 5060 transmission instead of the 5073 that is is suppose to have. AYE!

I didn't do anything on the tractor today, but I did get a couple parts to upgrade the steering.

It is but you can put a washer on either side of the whole to install the switch. I tossed mine together but you could center it and make it look better. lol

Looks like the nut and the backing are larger than the circle, but like You and Hillbilly Mowers mentioned.  I will probably use a washer in there as well.

In other frustrating news....  It has happened again!

As you can see, it RETURNED for some reason.  I got notification even this morning it was to be delivered today.  AYE!

I had one of those ideas and it worked great.

I used one of those rubber plumbing washers, trimmed about 1/16th off the outer edge with some scissors.  Couple washers to help squish it into place.  Solid as a rock!

Not much anything today, but this is something.  New tie-rods are complete.  Issues getting it welded at first.  I ended up having to melt them down good.
