So frustrated, not sure the deal, but I just got a huge dump of ATLTF notifications in my inbox today for replies up to more than a week ago?!?! New user requests from 3 days ago. Aye.... I woke up and thought the forums caught fire last night and this morning. They are still coming in as I type this.
Another 56 notifications in email since that last post.

Hey guys sorry it's been a few days been down under the weather and I just found out the build off starts but the wizard on the back burner for now but I'm definitely not out of the game yet but I will be entering my old statesman but it will definitely be worth the fun of see this piece of junk become something that is unstoppable because I have 2 different transaxles now that I have picked up along the way these last few days but one has a small hole in the top of the case like it been nicked with a grinder and the other has the pulley welded to the shaft but they are bothe they same an I'm thinking I can pull them a part an swap the caseing out or either jb weld the hole on top parts of the caseing but I will be posting my pic and my later on to night of my entry in the 2024 build compition.

Well, after a couple of weeks of off and on lubing, heating, beating, prying and pulling I FINALLY got the brake drum off that 633a I scored a few weeks ago!
As you can tell by the last pic that the brake lining is MIA and the drum isn't in the greatest shape hence the reason wanted to remove it (so I can refurbish it). Everything else aside from the broken mounting bolts have been coming apart without an issue.
I was just thinking. I wonder if we could put the newer disk brake on the roper ayp on an older transaxle.
Disk brake slides on a splined shaft. You would need an older 6 pinion Sears trans so you could swap in the newer splined shaft to use the brake. You would have to use a hydraulic caliper as well as of course the older trans isn't cast for the newer style brake.
There appears to be many variations over the years, the one I have is a from 90's Yard Pro and it has a drum on a tapered shaft. Speaking of which I was able to resurface it so it's like brand new now. Took a bit to set it up and got some gouging due to vibration but with a little grinding, filing and sanding I ended up with a decent surface!
I guess I COULD cut the outer ring off and make it a hub for a disc... I'd love to see what a stock disc setup looks like if anyone has one and will share a pic or 2. I wouldn't cut this one up now but I could replace one on one of my other 2 in machines and cut that one up.
[adm] OK guys! I know we still have a week left this year. I think it's time to let the off-topic 2023 thread retire and come to an end. A new one will start up next year! Thanks for everyone that comes and socializes in our tractor community!
Have a Happy New Year.[/adm]
