As for the tires... I showed the picture to a buddy and he said that logo was fairly common on the 60's Carlisle tires which made me think of one of my old bosses 68/69 Ford lawn tractor that also had white wheels. A clue perhaps?! Lol.

Definitely a shame they're weather cracked but they're older than any of us and still holding together!

Putting this idea out in the open, but could it be possible to add a general resources section to the form, as I was wanting to share the .svg, .dxf, and .ngc files for intake flanges so that way if anyone needs them in the future they can be found easily? It could probably serve other uses as well but that's the main use I came up with.

Not a terrible idea @JittyJat, maybe a "Sticky" in the General Engine Tech section? I've scanned gaskets so I can cut new ones on my plotter instead of having to order or cut by hand every time.

I'm sure like @Brianator said, it would fit a section.

As for attachments, the site pretty much only allows what files Servimg does.  Like jpg, gif, and png.  I could turn on attachments for posts, but we only get 500Kb.  Yeah, you seen that. Kb.


We could purchase more storage, but that cost is Approximately $650 usd a year for 10MB.

I don't know that there's that many of us on here that use CAD programs where a .dxf or .svg file would be that useful to us. Though a plain picture of a dimensioned drawing would be helpful to most. I'm definitely on board with your idea though, and I can contribute from time to time.

Yes @RichieRichOverdrive I do! A small one (Silhouette Cameo) which is more for vinyl decals and stuff but I can cut flange templates on Bristol board and gaskets on gasket paper with it so it's really handy for me! They're really not all that expensive these days especially if you get them on sale.

Wow that sounds really handy, just yesterday I had to make a new gasket using the old fashion method (a knife) I might have to get me one to help around the shop.

It's been super useful especially for complex gaskets like the ones for Briggs updraft 2 piece carbs. It doesn't necessarily cut all the way through the gasket material I usually have to finish it off with a knife but that's just because I haven't fully figured how to make carriage 2 with the knife blade do multiple passes but I'm not that worried about it.

That's sweet! My boss has a good size CNC laser that's really good for cutting gaskets. We've even cut felt on the thing, though even with the downdraft table the stuff stinks terribly.

Just started to assemble this thing and once it's up and going I'll offer plasma cutting to forum members for real cheep. I know most of us when building a mower don't want to spend goobs of money, especially if we can fab it up ourselves but the offer will be there.

That's a sweet plasma table! If I had the room then one of those would definitely be high on my list. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to squeeze in a surface grinder. I like the nice enclosure around it too, keep the slag and grit off of everything else. What size is that one, 4x8?

Been wanting one for a long time and finally bit the bullet and ordered one.   Yes it is a 4x8. It's been setting in the crate in my garage for over a year now, I didn't really have open space for it too but after moving my junk around I was able to make a spot for it. That was only half the battle. I also wanted it in an enclose space so I didn't have dust and grim all over my garage. So I built a rack out of lumber to not only set the table under but I could also store all my sheets of metal above it.





After the metal rack was built I then enclosed both sides and the back of the lower section.   I then built a hood out of metal that mounts up in the 1st shelf above where the table will sit.




Got most of it painted and then finally opened the crate and now I'm assembling it.   I will attach my dust collector hose to the hood some how and when I'm cutting itll blow all smoke a fumes outside. There will also be a sliding curtain that will cover the front of the table.

Speaking of surface grinder, look at this little gem. I couldn't stand to see it go to the scrap yard so it now takes up a corner of my garage too.




Now I just need to make room for a press brake.  Wish me luck.

That's a neat little grinder. I wouldn't pass it up for scrap price.
