My new years resolution? Yes yes... My new years resolution is to build something. Something with 4 wheel and an engine. Heh heh.

How long has that been your resolution?

There has been quiet the influx of new users in the past couple weeks.  Maybe they will jump in and join the community!

That would be sweet! I mean heck don't we seem friendly enough or something? Lol

You guys ever fixed what seemed like a minor problem on something and it somehow solved all of the major issues you had with something? I took .003" off of the spindle face of my horizontal mill today and now it'll take twice the cut it did before, with no chatter whatsoever. Go figure haha.

Hold on, what? How did this happen? That was just an hour and a half ago and now it’s back to 19?!

Hackers and Data miners looking for personal information probably. Maybe some of the guests are people too lazy to log on or forgot their password. I did make a some website updates yesterday so probably search engines too.  I've seen several bings, googles, yahoos and now I see quant as well.

I am one of those folks that will come onto the site as a guest, but I do have a real good reason - I blame my phone.
My current phone is all I use for interneting around.  I can usually log in as long as I can type in my password fast enough, I can even check the box that says remember me but next time I come back to the site it'll say to login again.  Thats not a problem at all. Where I really have issues with is posting/ commenting. If i go to type something out it's like my keypad has a mind of its own - for an example if I wanted to type out the word - tractor - it would look something like this ( trtraatractttracto ).  
It's been like that as long as I can remember with this phone. But what really makes it strange - the phone types perfectly fine on another forum, searching the internet, texting and emailing. It does seem to really just have issues with this site, but I still blame the phone.  My old phone works fine on here (that's how this was posted.)  I'm no teck junkie and I also spend very little time online as it is, so learning all the tricks of this teck stuff will probably never happen. I just make do with what I have and ill probably just keep ghosting around this site till the phone needs replacing.

I also am a guest sometimes (3-4 times a day for a couple minutes. My devices (all Mac) sometime forget the “remember me” thing. Idk. Often I just hop on, read the latest posts, and hop off. If I want to comment or post something I come back on and log in.

@muddstir I only use my phone to and had the same problem but there is a solution! See The page symbol highlighted bottom right on the tool bar? Click it and try again!

If ever I'm checking the forum on my phone I'll be on as a guest as well, as safari doesn't want to save my log in information for whatever reason.

Yeah I come on as a guest sometimes too and continue to unless I need to track something under my watched topics or have something to say. I just was surprised at the jump in users and then immediate drop. I'm wouldn't be surprised though if a good bit of us lurk around as a guest until we have something to say lol.

Interesting information from all.  I know if I log onto a new device it causes me to log in.  I've had that browser remember me fine untill I log into the next new device or browser.  I test with:
Safari on iPhone
Safari on iPad
Edge on Windows 11 (default)
Chrome on Windows 11
Firefox on Windows 11
Brave on Windows 11


Sometimes I test with the following:
Chrome on iPad
Chrome on Fedora Linux
Chrome on mint Linux
Chrome on Firefox Linux
Chrome on Firefox Linux

So, I do a lot of checking sometimes.  The only real issue I run into is the built in grammar/spelling check in Edge.

@Brianator, interestingly enough.  Changing to the nonWYSIWYG mode using the page icon button (Switch Editor Mode) fixes the grammar/spelling issue in Edge.  I'll turn the announcement scroller back on.

Slightly haunted is ok. Having your tools get tossed in the middle of floor. Storage totes tumbled over... that's kicking it up a notch. Ask me how I know.

I'll tell ya, the house we use to rent was that way. My wife and I counted at least 3 good spirits, 1 animal spirit and one unknown ambiguous dark spirt there. The dark one kept you on edge. Glad we do not live there anymore.

So far the shop isn’t really haunted, but this building was built for storage in the 50s for a school about 30 feet away that was built in 1923, abandoned in the 70s, then became the community center in the 90s. Me and all my buddy’s keep seeing the same guy in the school at all hours of the night while it’s locked and all the lights are off, and we go inside and clear the building and there’s nobody there.

Nothing beats coming face to face. Strangely, the one I came face to face with did not frighten me. There was a sense of calmness when I did. I saw him a second time. I figured it was one of the good spirits. There was one that you could sense and just be eerie. They seemed to occupy mostly the garage.

Now for less strange stuff.

I finally put up the static logo in the top left toolbar that if I remember right use to drive ya nuts. No more rolling in and out.

I think maybe you guys had a bit too much of the “magic lettuce!”

Just pickin’ on ya. In all seriousness, that new shop is awesome!
