Ooh, I'll take a pitcher of coke if you got one? Welcome to the forum by the way, lots of new recruits these days, you planning on a restomod or just a straight restostock?
I can't really read the data tag too well but it looks like Model Number : 8-3233 (8HP, 32" cut, # 33) Date of Manufacturer is really hard to read but it looks like 4289?
The engine code is saying it's a 8hp with an aluminum cylinder (known as "Kool Bore") with electric start, made in October 1974.
I'll look later and see if I can dig up any more info on it.
Thank you very much. numbers on the nameplate: date of = 5-3233 manufacture = 4289 lawrenceburg tenn = 3846 unfortunately the nameplate is worn.
I know it looks that way, but old Ohio Murray name plates got skewed sometimes.
Model is 5-3233 Date of manufacture is 4289 = 289th day of a year ending in 4. Since the engine code if original and looks to be. "October 16, 1974" OCT, as @Brianator stated.

Nice one @MightyRaze I wasn't sure how to decipher the date code on the machine (yet).
A little poking around between calls and what I've found has me thinking it was built by Roper, Models K831 and K832 rear engine riders were both made in 1974 and had 8hp Briggs and Stratton engines so we could be one step closer to finding a working manual for you! Hopefully anyhow! Lol
