Yeah, I've always wanted on of the shaft drive cubs (probably something similar to an 1864) with power steering an the big 50" decks, one of those would be sweet and probably more reliable than the MTD belt-driven chinese made crap we have now...
Or a tractor like the 2182: shaft driven hydro, power steering, electric PTO clutch and up to a 60" deck! But as it was stated before, money talks and empty pockets walk... possibly one day I'll be able to afford a L series Kubota, basically the tractor of my dreams, but that would cost me probably upwards of 50k (Not happening...)
Gotta work your way up man! Right now you're on lawn tractors, next step are garden tractors and they're a bigger upgrade from LT than you'd realize until you're actually working on one. Several companies of GT have shaft drive and some hydro also. The Mud Duck (Bolens) is Hydrostatic with hydraulic lift and is shaft driven. Same as alot of old Cub Cadet like the 129/149/169 and I'll tell ya, they're all super capable tractors that can be had for much less than a true compact like you're talking about. You'll find one eventually I'm sure, have patience "good things come to those who wait" as the old adage goes! Lol

I got my GT from my dad’s coworker whose father was selling everything and moving into an apartment. If people know you fix stuff like this they’re pretty willing to cut yoy a deal or just give it to you because it’s better for them to see it getting brought back and used and not junked or abandoned. Keep looking, these tractors can find you! Lol

Yeah the only reason I would want a garden tractor is the price, honestly. The old equipment definitely has tons of patina, the main appeal is cost, I really want to grab an old cub or ford, some like that and build a backhoe and loader for it, maybe the funds will exist one day

I watched one video and that's all I could handle, I heard so much good stuff about C&C but all I saw was a bunch of crappy hackery going on... maybe it was just a bad video (briggs flathead build) but wow, no thanks I know better than to do what they do! Lol
I find the podcasts too long, I might watch that one if a end up having some work to do tonight but I can't just sit down and watch a video like that for 2 hours
I watch most of their other videos though, I mostly skip the ones about motorcycles, honestly more interested in the powersports stuff, I have never really been interested in a bike bigger then like a mini bike, they all seem like death traps to me?
